I believe Lustig may be overthinking the kickoffs. Why not simply kick it in the endzone and have the opposition start everytime from the 25. Would also simplify things for the defensive coordinator too. Too many things can go wrong....injuries, the returner can break off a big run etc etc. I say keep it simple.

Has Franklin commented that we are intentionally trying to kick the ball shorter?

Thanks Tom...In my fantasy world, I'd hope that we're just putting this on film and forcing teams to spend some of their practice time on some of these situations...and then just go out there and boot them for touchbacks in the games that matter. But I'm afraid that it's not likely true.

To me it’s obvious … we want teams starting their drives inside the 20.
and have possibility of a turnover (which came close to happening last week).
I am 100% cool with the risk/reward, even knowing we have at least 2 kickers on the roster who can put it in or through the end zone every time.

Agree. Let him kick it into the stands and trust your defense.

I'm not, especially as we face teams that have gamebreakers that can really make you pay for that. We've also seen multiple times of kicking it out of bounds. Giving them the ball at the 25 every time would be great with me in a big game.

+1. we have had what 3 kicks out of bounds so far this year and almost had a fumble on a return? Not to mention the kicks OOB last year. No thanks.

I think moving forward we will see more of the kick in the ball into the end zone, but I do think that they use the first three games to try to see what their coverage team could do

I especially like it when he kicks it out of bounds giving the opponents the ball at their 35 yard line. 🙄🙄
