Yes it was a lot closer than the score looks. OG last TD was on a desperation through out of the end zone by the Salisbury QB straight to the OD DB.

I’ll agree with this. The free touchdown for OG in the first quarter. Even though OG’s offense was chugging along early in the game and nearly scored in their first drive, their turnover on downs, which was great for Salisbury, was quickly negated by the turnover in the end zone.

So 13 points were scored by OG’s defense. If you use only that factor, that makes the score 22-19 instead of 35-19.

Plus the returned kick off on special teams for OG.

Yes indeed. They did.

Coaching staff will keep those guys humble, I don’t worry about them.

I worry a little bit about the folks in the stands who are starting to think that OG is invincible. I’m still looking at West next week... and Ledford after that. Ledford will be a real test, and if OG comes in sleepy, West could hurt them in the air.

In my opinion, West may be the biggest threat to OG this year. Pass defense can be questionable at times.

Also I can GUARANTEE the "fans in the stands" do NOT think they are invincible. I will say that they are confident in the coaches abilities to get the plays needed out of the boys.

I’m sitting in the same stands that you are. Those football fans in the know are well aware of OG’s shortcomings...

Those that don’t understand... Well, You know the difference.

A program is being built. I think that even fan culture needs to be cultivated as well. There were fans last year who were screaming at the coaches during blow out losses to T’ville, Lex, Ledford, North, and others.... They are foolish and thankfully they are in the minority. For now. I hope it stays that way!

I started tooting OG's horn pretty early, even before the season started. That was mostly based on Holcomb's track record and the talent that is there, not on anything they had done last year. At this point, I don't think it's hyperbole to say they have a great chance of being undefeated in the regular season.

Where a few OG fans probably need to tap the brakes a little is the state picture. I think OG is a top 20 2A program, but that won't get you very far in 2AA, especially if you go to the West. I will say though that I've only heard a couple of fans discussing a deep run. Most seem to be just enjoying the season.

I have seen West play and was impressed with their offensive scheme with the fakes and play action. If you get out of position on defense they can hurt you with big plays. Their QB is pretty accurate with the ball too when passing and they are huge up front on the OL.

I've also seen Ledford on film and was very impresssed with their defense, they are fast and aggresive. I thought they looked almost as good as last years D in spots and the QB Lackey is very fast and the RBs run very hard. I would say Ledford might even be overall more talented than Salisbury and probably won't make as many mistakes. Should be a good game when they play OG.
