Oats because he played a kid who made a mistake, and Pearl because of a bbq that happened like 17 years ago. Let that sink in.

Either one of those guys would have sacrificed at least one testicle to coach here.

Mitch needs to go. It’s beyond past time.

Oats definitely built rep by sticking with his player. Players want a coach that has their back. The kid was not charged with a crime, and it's a disgrace that people would make implications about his participation in tragic events. The guy who DID participate was kicked off the team, in case anyone didn't notice.

Doesn't matter what your personal feelings on it are, Oats for sure built rep with his kids. We need a coach the players respect.

You jackasses would be bitching at him just like you are at Pope. You guys realize Oats has already lost to Gonzaga, Purdue and barely be St Johns this year already.

None of this matters now. We gotta suffer through at least two more seasons of being mediocre with imaginary chest thumping about getting #9. I guess they were confused and thought we wanted 9 wins this year. We havent been really good since Covid hit and the year of Fox, Monk the only real title contender. That’s approaching a decade ago. Mitch has got to go, today.

I wonder what he would do with UK's resources and a $20 million dollar roster budget.

Plus, Oats has an actual resume having already made a Final Four at a football school.

What did Pope prove before he came to UK, outside of knowing how to lose to 11 seed in the first round? He still hasn't signed a top 10 player.

no idea if Oats was ever offered, but Pearl should have been. He is an excellent coach & recruiter.
He would have excelled @ UK especially with a 30 million NIL budget. I too was disappointed with the Pope
hire but really enjoyed last year. This year's team and Pope have a different "feel" about them. Something is
missing. Last year's group seemed pretty together on and off the court. Not so this year. Got a feeling
it revolves around everyone's "salary".

Why do the Nate was never offered posts keep popping up? Technically prob not offered but he was first call kentucky made and he said no thanks. Things could change down the road i guess but what i’m saying is 100% fact.

Why do nate was called posts keep being made up. It didn't happen.. Oats and bama put out a statement saying they were staying put and thats what you do to help recruiting....makes you look better. But nate Oats was high on everybody's list except mitch barnharts.

Supposedly, and I say that because it was KSR who said it I believe, the board of trustees told Mitch that Pearl, Oates and Miller were off the table due to prior bad acts. This was because Stoops got the athletic department put on probation right before the hire due to the players getting paid and not working.

Who knows, he probably wouldn’t have offered Oates or Pearl anyway because he’s a walking screw up.

The best thing we can hope for is Mitch gives notice to retire next month and UK hires a real AD and not one of Mitch’s stooges (Marc Hill and Peevy). The new AD fires Pope and actually knows what the hell he’s doing and goes and gets Oates or Hurley. I know that’s a pipe dream because so many impossible things have to happen but we have to hope it happens because it’s clear to me Pope has no shot here. He’s looking real hard at missing the tournament this year and next year looks no better. His recruiting has been absolutely abysmal given where he is and the NIP he has.

Why can’t UK just take a page outta LSU’s book? Take matters into their own hands 🤔

Same issue we had when Tubby left. Cal wanted the job, but Mitch in no way would hire him at that point. When he had to fire Billy G., he was then forced by some higher ups to go after Cal. Mike Pratt had to get involved and so did someone else that I can't remember off of the top of my head. Oats, Pearl and Beard absolutely should've been on that list, especially when he took the swing and miss on Drew. Beard would've come up here in a heart beat.

Pearl was the lay up hire. He would've crawled here and killed it. He would've given us about 5 years then we could've seen where Pope was plus others would've emerged.

The Pope hire and the way it went down was 100% Mitch. He went dark and surfaced with that hire.

I love Pope the person and we absolutely need this to work, but Mitch should be shown the early retirement door and basketball get the administrative/gm changes football is getting. No more 20+ mil for a team full of 6th men.

Technically they are. They do worship the Lord through Jesus Christ.
Mormons reject the trinity, believing instead that the Father, Son and Holy Ghost are three separate beings and are one in purpose. They also deny the authority of the Nicene Creed, and all subsequent Christian doctrine as apostasy. They believe the Christian Bible is incomplete. Mormons have three other books they hold as scripture: The Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, and Doctrine and Covenants.

Mitch couldn't close the deal for any of the big names. He almost hired Shaka Smart. So, I have No confidence in Barnhart at all.

They also reject the divinity of Jesus. Christ himself said that rejection of the Father and rejection of the Son are the same rejection. God, in three persons, is flatly rejected with Mormonism. Christians correctly label this as outside the faith and that doesn’t mean we can’t respect certain aspects of their faith —- absolutely not Christians.

If things really do crash and burn with Pope I want a sleazeball like Oats for our next coach. No nicey-nice, rah rah BS. I want a dude who would rip his opponent’s throat out if that’s what it took to get a win.

Pitino had that. (Early) Cal had that.

Why do we always ignore that Oats himself states that he took himself out of consideration for the Kentucky job without needing it to be offered? He actually cited specific reasons: his family likes being in Tuscaloosa, he believes he can build Alabama as a contender, and he stated that while he likes the idea of high expectations, he acknowledged that the fans turning so quickly was something he finds unattractive. Furthermore, fans seemed to be pretty well in agreement on this back when it happened and now we retcon it, as always, as though he would have happily accepted but we said no. Here’s a sea of blue article from the summer of 2024. Notice how different the viewpoints of fans were at that point.

Personally, I love Nate Oats and wanted him here the first time. He’s an analytics guy, builds the types of rosters that I believe can win at the highest level and has a quiet confidence about him. I don’t think he’s going to be a Wildcat, though.

And with Pearl, few here wanted him either because he was old and everyone thought he would retire soon. And guess what: they were 100% right, because he did exactly that lol.

The real “one that guy away” from that cycle, if any, was Golden. But if we’re being realistic we were pretty screwed as soon as Drew very publicly turned us down.

Don't worry, Mark Fox is getting that cleaned up...

Hypothetically speaking, how does BBN react if he'd coached here for one season before saddling us with Steven at the last minute?
How serious was the online chatter (at the time at least) that he was interested in getting into politics because he's staunchly Pro-Isreal?

He also said he likes the pressure of UK. That he thought about being offered.....

I said that in my post. People like to highlight that part, but when he said that it was part of a compound sentence. People kind of ignore second half of it, because he explicitly said why he won’t be the coach here. Let me say, I’d love to have him, but I don’t see it happening ever. Maybe we can convince Golden if Florida falls off. I’d love to have him —- he’s young, crazy and ascending.

Heard the same about Cal in 2008. Family loves Memphis, UK has too much pressure, his kids are young and going to school there. It's all BS. Nothing is certain.

Cal didn’t explicitly cite fanbase as a reason he wouldn’t want to be here though.
Oats did. I wish we’d just think about other options —- Oats ain’t coming.
