So how does the Dline play out? Seems like UK has 5 maybe 6 guys for 3 spots. Does Ox and Walker play at the same time?

Looks like he’s got his weight back? Hope he’s a dynamic force this year.
Really? I was kind of disappointed when I saw the pic of he, Weaver and Cox. I thought he looked comparitively small. Maybe the staff doesn't want their DE's over 280? Rybka lost a bunch of weight when he got here too.

UK is solid at DT and Tackle. DE weight may be to add some slight quickness for pass rush. Weaver needs a bug year for UK to have top line in SEC. Team will be solid against run, just hopefully adds pressure on QBs.

I hope he just dominates this year. He seems like such a good dude that looked like he was going to break out last year and just didn't for some reason. He's got the athleticism.
Guys coming off serious knee injuries often need 2 yrs recovery not just 1. Remember he got hurt Oct 2021. Stoops obviously thinks he will be big time since he brought him to NashVegas.

Ox got hurt but it wasn't an ACL. FWIW. It was reported as a meniscus tear, not a two-year kind of injury. If it had happened a little earlier in our schedule, he would have returned later in the season. The main problem Ox faces is that he isn't a starter because he plays the same position as Deone Walker. He has seen a few snaps at DE too but that means taking snaps from Kahlil Saunders and TreVonn Rybka who are longer, more athletic players. Ox was brought to Nashville because he is an instate senior and a strong locker room leader. He is a good, intelligent player, but not a starter.

We got the transfer from UNC as well. Anyone heard how he is doing? He was a high 4* guy coming out of HS.

Ox lost a lot of weight afterr the injury. It seemed like he was to light to play where he was playing. Maybe they move him outside more often....?

I think you can forget about Silver's 4 star rating in hs. He is playing for a defensively oriented SEC team now, and he will have to earn his snaps in practice against other good players. BTW, Josaih Hayes was a 4 star too.

I don't believe Ox can win many reps competing at DE against Rybka and Saunders. To put it bluntly, they are built for the edge, whereas Ox is not. Rybka gets no credit from some of our fans, but he is a really good edge lineman. And Saunders has been giving Rybka all the competition he can handle. Both of them are longer and quicker laterally than Ox. Your memory is correct that Ox lost weight after his meniscus injury. I had knee problems in the past, and I can testify that losing weight makes it easier to deal with bad knees. But it doesn't get easier to play in the interior DL in the SEC. Ox is a good football player but Walker is simply bigger and better. Ox will not be a starter. And that's alright. Someone has to back up Deone.

According to Cal, our basketball team is "players first". According to Stoops, our football team is "team first". We are witnessing the contrasting implications and consequences of the two foundational philosophies.
Y’all are still fighting this dumb basketball vs football battle? Of course y’all are. That’s why the media asks these dumb questions.

No, I am not "fighting a basketball versus football battle". If you know anything about what goes on here on the board, you would know I am a proponent for all of our major and minor sports. But I can make an observation. And it is a valid one.

Well one keeps saying every single time a camera and mic is in his face.....and the other just talks about his team. Last year one coach was the one who said "we are a basketball school" with no prompting questions that baited him into saying anything of the topic....and the other coaching staff responded to his dumb comments.

I will be curious to see how Ox and Dinkins look on the field this season. Since Ox was hurt Dinkins really came on strong. Dinkins showed he was active, could cover some ground and aggressive.
