Again, a very subjective question, but what the heck............

Bud people weigh in...

I would rate Rick Bryan as the second best DT. The guy grew up hauling hay on the Coweta bottoms. I played against some of his kin and I can tell you they were all better than average. I never remember him getting whipped at the line of scrimmage.

There are a ton of others, so name them................

Some good ones were:
Kevin Grady 1969-70
Ryan Fisher 1997-2000
Anthony Bryant 1974-76
Phil Tabor 1975-78
John Titsworth 1966-68
Dick Paaso 1966-68 at 6'1" 202 lbs he helped anchor OU's defensive line along with Granville Liggins and John Titworth on that great 1967 team.
Ralph Neely 1962-64...played both ways, averaged 56 minutes a game in 1963.

Ricky Bryan, Tony Casillas, Tommie Harris

These are probably the 3 best (imo) since I've been watching OU football (early 80's). That said...McCoy, Dvorchek were damn good ones too....and very appreciated!

You asked for The best DT at OU not named Selmon. My first thought was Tommie Harris.

Some have mentioned other OU greats, Granville Liggins, Tony Casillas, Ricky Bryan, Kelly Gregg and Gerald McCoy, but Tommie Harris was the best DT that I recall. He was just a disruptive force that no one could handle and made those around him better players. But then, that's what all the great ones do.

Yep, I'm with you on Tommie.
That guy, OMG, more than once we saw that manchild beat a double team, push them back into the RB, QB exchange and cause a fumble, and recover the fumble!

Totally freakish!
Hardly anyone ever does that shtick.

That's exactly what happened on his very first play from scrimmage, starting as a true freshman. He might not of been double teamed, but he was in the backfield for a loss (no fumble though). I knew then he was going to be very, very special.................

That was a pretty good back he got on that play too (Fast Willie Parker of Steeler fame)

Gerald McCoy is the best not named Selmon. Followed closely in no particular order by Casillas, and Harris.

Kelly Gregg's combined stats for his junior and senior season:

215 tackles
14 sacks
33 tackles for loss

That's an incredible tackles stat for a nose. If you look at modern stats leaders, you won't find a nose in the Top 100 each year (only DBs and LBs), and that falls below the 100 tackles in a season mark.
