Anyone here ever worked for TSA? Maybe like a manager position? Curious if anyone knows, are TSA employees actually employees of the airport they work at, or just the federal government? Does the management team at the airport hire their own TSA staff? How does it work?

Son got hired a few months ago.
Federal employees. Believe latest spending bill in Congress put them on par with other federal employees.
Academy in Georgia but training locations in Vegas.
I think it's regional hiring but not sure. He lives in Phoenix and he works at Sky Harbor

Thanks. I appreciate the help. So - the airport they work at does not hire them?

Let me ask him. I believe you apply at the airport you want but training is centralized. So for example if xyz airport was fully staffed then they wouldn't post for open positions at xyz.
TSA supplements staffing by having agents from fully/overstaffed airports fly in.

My brother wants to apply for a job as a TSA manager. However, his current boss is an on the board of the airport he would work in. Trying to find out if his boss would find out that he applied.
