So, the guy that's directed cult classics like Halloween (1978), The Thing, Christine, Escape From New York, The Fog, They Live, Big Trouble In Little China, etc etc...his hometown is Bowling Green, Kentucky. Graduated from Western Kentucky. Of course I wish he had went to UK but the fact that he grew up in Kentucky is badass. The dude created Michael freaking Myers and started a horror/slasher movie craze that lasted about 15 years before Wes Craven and Scream revived it when it finally started to fade in the early to mid 90s. And he's a hell of a music composer as well. Too cool.

My point is..KENTUCKY'S BADASS.

Chris Carpenter is the goat of the era. None come close except Gibson. Didn’t realize he’s from Kentucky.

One of my absolute Favs! They Live is one of the most under appreciated films of all time! Basically, an analogical take on what’s actually going on in today’s world.

My wrestling friends think I’m crazy, but I think They Live is on my list of ten worst movies ever

I don't think he gets enough credit. Of course there are other great directors like Francis Ford Coppola, Stanley Kubrick, Spielberg, Darabont, etc...but Carpenter did exactly what those guys did..made great films across basically all genres. I don't think he's ever tackled a Vietnam or World War 2 film but that's about it. I mean, in my opinion, he's right up there with the all time greats. And those guys couldn't create music/scores/themes like Carpenter or even at all.

Same..they're killing it tonight at Philly but man, I was disappointed as hell with their terrible showing vs. the horrible Royals last series. They play down to their competition sometimes but overall, they're very young with guys like Albies, Acuna, Riley, Soroka, Fried, etc....so I get it but damn..the Royals. Yuck. I hope we pay them back in September at their place.

Carpenter set out to “educate” us about the workings of the world, in his own special way lol.

Yes John Carpenter is a wonderful BG legacy. Many of the streets listed in The Fog are Bowling Green street names. He lived in the log house that is on campus. His dad was at WKU for 34 years and was the head of the music department.

Needless to say, being a WKU alumnus, I feel a connection with Carpenter; especially since we’ve kinda walked the same streets and shared a place in time.

He may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but he was prolific in film making and a solid composer.

Noobs have a tendency to get drawn into taking the internet too seriously and then ask you to meet up for fisticuffs. Hell, there was a guy I think it was a Louisville fan that posted his phone number and people called him talking ****. It was an awesome thread

John Carpenter is from Carthage, NY. He lived in BG as a child and teenager, but he’s not from there.
