I'm really excited about the 2019 season. I really like our recruiting class, and It's going to be exciting seeing some players with an additional year in S&C, but one of my biggest concerns is the offensive line. Do we take a step back or a step forward next year? Does John Raridon finally starts contributing?

Raridon has every opportunity this year to start, the rest is up to him..

You lose a ton of starts with Foster departing and we've seen how the center play was while anyone not named Farmer was in that spot. They'll be fine at the guard spots and fine at the tackle spots, the real question mark is at center.

It's too early for Jurgens to break out at a position he's never played, you hope Bland can make grades and come in to play C for them. My guess is that was the plan with him. I suspect they'll throw a lot of bodies at that position all the way through fall camp and see what sticks.

The biggest thing is there seems to be a position coach worth a **** on the OL for the first time since Milt. We've literally been watching mediocre line coaches at NU for so long that our last good one is dead. I think year two in the offense and under Austin and Duval is going to pay dividends we haven't seen in some time.

Our OL progressed so much during the season, for the first time in forever, and the three Sophomores were our best players. I have no idea who replaces Farmer and Foster, but we have options. I am very excited to have Austin coaching our OL and I think we take another step forward on the OL this year.

I might have to disagree with you on who our best O linemen were at the end of the year. IMO, Farmer probably played the best of anybody at maybe the most difficult position to master. He is going to be missed. Center concerns me maybe more than any other position on the team. It's just so critical to the success of your offense.

We got much better when Farmer replaced Conrad, for sure. But I can’t agree he played anywhere near as good as Jaimes, that guy is a stud. The case could be made he played as well as Wilson or Farniok, but Wilson was also HM All-B1G.

I agree that Jaimes and Wilson played well. They still blew plenty of assignments and Wilson I believe generated some penalties. Farmer at the end of the year IMO was getting his job done and limiting mental mistakes. Farniok also played well but likewise blew some assignments and had some penalties. I just think people tend to under estimate what Farmer meant to that O line.

I know Foster started a lot, but it’s hard for me to imagine he is that difficult to replace now that we got the aforementioned “position coach worth a ****”. I hope there’s some stiff competition in that position group this spring.

It’s too bad Benhart wont be an early enrollee.
