Maybe so. I prefer to think that it’s all about giving the scrubs real game experience. If Maryland had decided to run the ball at the end then it would have finished 38-7.

All of the above. There’s no love lost between CJF and Locksley.
No reason from a sportsmanship perspective for BACKUPS, who may be playing the few snaps that they will get all season, to take a knee. Starters yes, but not backups.

PSU team total was 38 1/2 so I appreciate the extra effort on the final play.

what are they going to say? "well that's a great start for Maryland but honestly they are probably going to be *** blasted from here on out" ?
I made this exact argument earlier in the day.
I'm generally of the mind that non-starters do not OWE the opponent anything. If I'm riding the bench, and then I finally get to go in, I don't want to lay down. I want to play! And it's the obligation of the opposing team to stop me.
That being said: there's 4 seconds left in the game, and you're up by infinity. I've seen you take a knee before, JF! So, the question isn't really answered: what was different this time, compared to other times?
I mean, it is a very strong possibility that PSU is going to go on to blow out a crappy Maryland team, which is boring for those guys, they are trying to drum up some excitement for viewers and for themselves
