Bought a bottle of Old Bardstown 10 yr Estate. 101 proof. Haven’t had it in a while. It’s my favorite one of their offerings.

You ever do blind taste tests? Had my wife pour wild Turkey 101, four Roses small batch select, and EH Taylor BIB in glencairn glasses. Crazy but I picked 101, then Taylor , and select last. I was convinced the Select was going to be the 101 because it smelled so strong. EH Taylor almost no aroma.

I have been down the “high” road of designer bourbons… After it all I have come to this…. If a distiller/brewer/winery is willing to put their name on the product then that’s likely to be good enough for me… So I buy and look for what put them there… For the most part:)… Not a fan of < 90 proof… It’s my sweet spot👍

Just picked up a Russell’s Reserve 10 yr for 23.99 at Kroger. Also got a WT 101 and a Bulleit Rye. Should hold me for a while.
I would be interested in your thoughts on the differences between the Russell’s and WT 101. Are they extremely noticeable?

I will do a little taste test and let you know. The Russell’s is 10 yr old and the Wt is 6 I believe. But it’s 101 proof. I will get back to you.

Im on a Eagle Rare kick right now . Anyone tried Bazil Haden “toasted “ ? I’ve heard some good things about it. I’ve had regular Bazil Haden but not the “toasted “.

Ok I just did a taste test. Now I am old and I truly think my taste buds are changing/failing but here goes. RR at 10 years has a deeper richer color. Both are high rye. I tried them neat and then with a couple drops of water. The only thing I can taste is spiciness. No vanilla or caramel. I like the RR flavor better but I like them both. I usually have them on the rocks or with a bit of water. I might try again later but this tasting only showed that I like RR better. No clue what they taste like. Hope it helps.

Wife had a new fashion the other day same concept, but the ice cube were infused orange juice and cranberry juice(I think) and she loved it
You might try making your own flavor infused simple syrup for your old/new fashioned. It's really easy and adds a very interesting element.

Take 1 cup of lightly boiling water add in 1 cup of white sugar and stir until dissolved. Using a potato pealer, remove the peal of 1 orange (try to avoid getting any of the white part). Steep the peal into the still hot sugar/water mix for 30-45 minutes. Remove the peal and refrigerate the remaining liquid in an air tight container like a mason jar. It will keep for a few weeks. You can also make it more interesting by substituting some light brown sugar for the white.

Picked up a Wilderness Trail store pick the other day. Very good. Wife got me a bottle of Booker’s Bardstown batch for Christmas. Haven’t opened it yet. I’m sure I won’t let it sit long.

Eagle, McKenna 10, and OF 120 under the tree this year. WR Double Oak and JD Single Barrell Select round out my current rotation.

Picked up a bottle of Russell Reserve Private Selection. Hadn’t come across any before so I got it. Very good and smooth for 110 proof.

Hey guys a friend of mine has a bunch of commemorative Makers Mark bottles that are Kentucky themed. Some of them are signed. Trying to help her sell them and I’m not sure how to go about it. They’re pretty cool. One of them is a UK legends bottle with Rupps Runts on it. It’s signed by Tommy Kron, Thad Jaracz, Larry Conley, Bill Samuels, Louie Dampier, and Nick N______ (can’t make it out).
Obviously these bottles are filled with bourbon and I do not want to get her in trouble selling liquor. Anyone have an idea how I can send help her sell them.
