When butler has played the pg spot has been solid. Popes offense runs through the center so we need a center who can pass amongst many things. Now they absolutely need a good pg as well to
Finding the right center is easily the most difficult thing in Pope’s offense. I think we were all hoping Garrison would emerge but I’m not confident he can be the guy next year. Point guards that would work for Pope’s offense are dime a dozen.

Agree, the passing and handling are crucial for this offense. The only potential center I’ve seen so far that can be close to Williams is Ewin Florida state

He needs to change his offense. Why because offense and defense are interlinked. He needs a better system. I mean bigs that can pass but not defend which it seems. I mean passing bigs are generally euros or foreign who play zero defense. Those bigs learned to pass playing soccer where the ball constantly moves and players are always making runs. A guy like Williams for instance played as a target striker, constantly distributing and making runs. It’s the spurs philosophy pope is trying to implement but the college game requires defense.

U-Tube (CollegeBasketball Recruiting) just popped up on my feed subscribed it’s updating the portal with highlights of players entered including international players. Looks like around 100 already in.

He needs to change a top 5 offense?

Pope can change the system based on players

Could be a passing 4 with some shooting ability to distribute the ball

And 5 is traditional 5...Give defense and some low post presence

If you can take 1 player from any SEC roaster that would be realistically to transfer here, who would you take?

It won't be the star players for the roasters.

Dia from Ole Miss would be an interesting get. A decent bigman who can score.

He can for sure. But the last 3 years he has a 5 guy who is initiating a lot of the offense.

You guys are going to be severely disappointed with who we are going to be able to get out of the portal this year. It's going to be way more competitive than last cycle and all of our rivals have deeper pockets than we do. Bookmark this and lets revisit it post-portal season.
You are terribly wrong about our rivals having deeper pockets than we do , according to people that are paid to know that kind of stuff.

Assist highlights. I daresay he's as good a distributor as Williams, which is saying something.

Moni, Jacksen (F/C), NDSU, JR, 6'10 235#.
20.6ppg, 5.6reb, 3.7ast, 50.8% fg, 40.8% 3pt (64-157), 83.7% ft, and ~0.5 blocks and steals a game.

Could be a defensive liability, but an absolute offensive beast.
Supposedly, this dude is out of eligibility. He played a couple years of D2 but those aren’t exempt like Junior college.

TBH, I'm more interested in portal guys than freshman. I got jaded and burnt out watching half of Cal's guys fizzle and leave. I'd definitely spend money on portal guys than freshmen.

Really I'm just cranky cause I got back from my second run of the year, so I'm exhausted, and then I find out the game has been pushed back til midnight. Grrr.
Portal guy > Freshman
Good enough for Coach Pitino!

Joe Tipton just lists this kid as a "guard". Got to be a PG ... right ?
Quimari Peterson (East Tennessee State; 6'1", senior; fg 46.8%; 3pt 42.2% - from Gary, IN).

Nah.

Most of our rivals didn't get a return on their investment this year. That is, after all, the whole point of NIL.

What exactly did the Arkansas donors get for their investment? An 8-10 SEC record and a bunch of broken promises from Cal? How about UNC? They aren't even tourney-bound.

At some point, people are going to realize that while it's really cool to have VJ Edgecombe dunk 20 times in a season for your program, you're not getting much of a return on a 10-10 Big 12 record while paying the kid north of a million bucks.

Then there's also the fact that you're a miserable contrarian poster. So I don't really expect you to be objective in any of this.

That Jacksen kid out of NDSU would be spectacular.

As a side, has anyone seen those transfer portal highlight mix tapes with the really generic, kind of annoying music in the background yet? They were half of my YouTube feed this time last year.

They’re back already. I usually watch those as an appetizer before I binge full games. I need out over portal season
