I do not know if you have ever been diagnosed with cancer....I have and it isn't fun. No child should be subjected to such a curse. Yes, I am sensitive for cancer patients....but until you get cut open and wear a colostomy bag, experience the effects of chemotherapy, please refrain from referring to children as "cancer kids".

I am sensitive to the severity of cancer in anyone and the challenges associated with it for patients and their families, but the ”iowa 👋🏻 “ is lame. To me, it comes up way short. Sure, it makes the kids feel good for a minute, but iowa gets too much credit for it because it’s choreographed by 60,000 iowa athletic supporters on TV. It’s a nice visual, but does it really make a difference?

Then there’s THON. It isn’t so visible (not choreographed, not part of a football broadcast), but it makes a difference. THON is much more than the PSU community feeling good about themselves. It helps kids with cancer and their families tremendously. THON helps save lives.

No, we are the top team, the big name team. When we play Iowa, we should beat them. What I meant is, Iowa beating us is the equivalent of us beating OSU. Only we don’t beat OSU, thus the comment, “Must be nice to win games against top teams”

A lot of you are blinded by something. This unwavering super fan loyalty and by some of us saying this team and coaching staff is probably the worst we’ve ever had, you go into protection mode...protect the team!!! Prep yourself, bc no top coach wants this job. We are gonna be bad for years. The only coach that is interested is a worse than Franklin coach named Ruhle.
Lol at thinking only Rhule is interested
Kraft may be dumb enough to hire him but he's not the only one interested

Please explain why Rhule is such a terrible coach.....I truly do not understand why this statement is constantly quoted. Is it because he sux in the NFL? So did Nick Saban and Paterno was wise enough to not go to the Jets.
Is it because he never had success in another college team? Baylor sure looked pretty good while he was the HC...and they haven't been relative since. He even won games at Temple!
He a program builder like Franklin
He can't beat teams with comparable or bigger talent
He's Franklin
Winning at Temple once they left the Big East was no longer impressive
See his record vs top 25. See his inability to develop his prize QB.

Yeah but Clifford was better than Levis and Allar and Grunk. Qb recruiting needs to get way better to beat the OSU's UM's of the world. Last first round pick Kerry Collins.
False Clifford was the worst of the 3...the offense just enabled to be decent.

Please tell me you aren’t trying to compare Julian Sayin to either Allar or Grunkemeyer. They will never be similar and Sayin is already further than either of those two will ever get to in their careers.
That’s funny.

This is still a CJF football team....this team read all the news clippings of how great they were and weren't pushed to get better....and every other team read the same articles....and playing PSU became their Super Bowl. CJF referred to this as "rat poison" a term coined by Saban, on Game Day....however he didn't push the team extremely hard to achieve perfection to withstand everyone else's greatest effort. This is an example of soft coaching....Saban was a SOB to his players...same as Jimmy Johnson, Vince Lombardi and Joe Paterno... demanding perfection but also they knew anything short of their "A" game would result in defeat.

How in the world do you know who wants the job and who doesn’t? This team is definitely bad, but not the worst we’ve ever had. We lost our best LB, our starting QB, and our coach…going into Kinnick at night against a top 10 defense…what did you expect?

What I struggle with is the complete disintegration of the defense. LB play is awful — The transfer #24 is serviceable, but #0 has been horrific. The DL returned everyone but Carter and is just non-existent. Opposing O-lineman are to the second level almost every play. Knowles mixes man and zone and when it’s zone it’s a soft as hell zone. It’s mind-boggling how bad the defense is now.

OSU. We pull it out in the 4th quarter 24-21 and leave the SUCKEYE fans in tears;);) We go on a run and finish 8-4
I'd be happy beating Ohio State then losing out. Bowl eligibility just means we have to suffer through another game with this staff.

We are winning one remaining game. I don’t know which one. Blind squirrel theory.

I'd like to think that PSU could pull out the last three, but they lost to Iowa which can be thought of as an exception due to the upheaval last week.

0 got pancaked... I'm embarrassed for him. When they called the play, I bet one of the OL was smiling because he knew his assignment was 0.

He might be like Scott Frost. Frost was a winner at UCF, Nebraska hired him, he was a former player afterall, but it didn't turn out well.

I think it is worse. We may not win another game until 2027 if we're lucky.
What did everyone that wanted Franklin fired expect? Did you think the day we got rid of him we would suddenly be beating everyone? Firing a good coach is always messy and might take years to recover. That’s why some didn’t want to get rid of Franklin. Get ready for years of this.

Worked for UCLA and yes I know you said good
Good or bad it should cause the team fight
Stop being afraid of trying to actually be elite.

We’ll see how well it works out. There are far more examples of teams getting worse or not improving after firing a good coach than the other way around. Realizing the grass isn’t always greener isn’t being afraid, it’s being realistic.

But I've never said it will be better
I said you try and if it fails you try again
It's like the Steelers. Being a borderline playoff team and losing every year in the first game isn't a reason to keep Tomlin

Franklin gets a ton of credit for building the program but he reached his ceiling. It was time.

Yup. It's going to be '94 PSU/OSU but in reverse.

Indiana might hang 70 on us.
Oh Lord. I was concentrating on the OSU beatdown and forgot about Indiana. We play both of them on back-to-back weeks. I'm not going to watch either one of those massacres.

On a bright note, we have MSU and Rutgers left and we should win both as they both stink. Good God, we can't lose to either, can we ?

Wave…raise over $17 million. Wave…raise over $17 million. Which gets all the glory on TV and which actually does something beneficial?

I had lowered my expectations way before Iowa. That said….i did not expect horrendous offensive play calling . The bull**** trick plays were amazingly poor. On the defensive side…we kept rolling out a courageous but horribly flawed LB Dom who made it incredibly easy for the Iowa QB and RB to skip the pass and simply run by and through us. Shame on me I guess for not lowering my expectations enough.

Is this the first of the “I told you so” posts about firing Franklin? Do people actually think Franklin wins that game yesterday at Iowa with his backup QB? Yikes.

The long term damage wasn’t done by firing Franklin, this team was already a mess because of him.

Under Franklin they would have been blown out.

You might be very right. Listened to the first half until the Grunk interception. My best buddy with whom I shared season tickets for 45 years gave me a recap of the second half. So some QB who no one will mistake for Michael Vick or Jalen Hurts runs for 67 yards on a draw and 130 yards total two weeks after the UCLA QB had numerous 30 plus yards scrambles. Go for it on 4th and 1 from your own 40 (suspect to begin with) and instead of running Allen get cute by trying to get the yard with a TE. Maybe Franklin wasn’t meddling with the play calling as much as his many detractors claim.

So how did it work out last night? Same old tired BS. Let’s try to win with gimmicks and trickery like two QBs in the game at the same time and running a TE on 4th and 1 from your own 40 instead of running your bell cow Allen.
