Doug Flutie passed for more than 500 yards against and got an a$$ beating
52-17

BC passed for 605 yards that game but not all of them were Flutie. Warner rushed for 183 yards. Can you imagine that? All of the RBs together struggle to get that in 2 games this year.

Interesting stats. Penn State had more yardage than MD (not by much), beat them in TOP (not much but I'll take it), but actually got fewer 1st downs than MD.

Fewer first downs is because PSU's offense depends on big passing plays to Dotson. The offense scored 3 TDs, all long breakaways to Dotson.

And I can't imagine any coach wanting to coach for this pathetic loser fan base.

Total outburst by me and uncalled for. I am usually supportive of Franklin and reserve my negative opinions until after the game. Poor showing by me in a moment of frustration to be sure.

110,000 strong says PSU is far from a pathetic loser fanbase. The fact is PSU fans are among the best in the country and they aren't happy with 5 loss seasons.
yeah, we've had so many 5 loss seasons to whine about

The secondary is very good.
The LBs are average. I expected more from Smith this year.
The DL is above average with Mustipher & Luketta (today) but below average without them.

MD marched the length of the field but we were lucky to recover a bad snap. They easily drove it in for a TD on their next possession. They they got a 2 pt conversion. Remember, PSU lost a 14 pt lead vs Illinois. I think the lack of depth on defense causes them to get tired by halftime. I'm also not too impressed with Pry. He's too blitz happy and we keep getting burned. I liked the 3 man rush vs OSU. He finally went back to that in the 4th qtr today and it was effective again. The late penalties by Porter could have cost us but we got the pick 6 which effectively ended the game.
Perhaps there would be more favorable responses to the blitzing if the blitzes got home more often...could be wrong, but it seems that most of the sacks this season have been due to someone like Ebiketie just beating his man one-on-one as opposed to it being a result of a blitz. 🤷‍♂️

Last year
Possibly this year

Next year appears to be a rebuilding year. Impact players Clifford, Dotson, Mustipher, Ebiketie, Brisker, Fields, Luketta, Brooks, & Stout are likely gone along with a few others. Looking forward to Allar and Singleton joining the team next year but they will be true freshmen.

I give Franklin a pass on his first two seasons. He did a good job recruiting and finishing in the top 10 three times. But you've got to admit that the trend isn't good right now. I think the frustration is exacerbated by Franklin's refusal to respond to fan concerns about his possible interest in the USC job.
