Franklin lives by this analytics bvllshit
Using analytics is fine. It’s smart. But you have to be able to properly interpret the analytics, which I’m not convinced they do.

Plus, analytics isn’t responsible for this. These coaches are losers. They’re content with being 3rd best. They coach like **** every time they face anyone with similar talent.

I said it earlier: my friend has not seen Penn State play before today. He’s been texting me all game saying, “What is the deal with Penn State’s play calling? Do they always play like this? It’s really weird.”

This team is what it is. 2nd teir in the conference. Will probably be 10-2 with a NY6 bowl game. Problem is they have the talent to compete with OSU and UM but something is missing with this Offensive coaching staff. If that’s MY or Franklin I don’t know. All I know is this is a championship D with a horrendous offensive game plan in every big game.

Unfortunately, Penn State hasn't been relevant in the national picture for a long time. Now, tOSU and UM are clearly superior. Enter Oregon, Washington, and USC and the possibility of PSU in the playoff becomes even less likely. It won't be impossible, but it will improbable.
This is a significant part of the narrative that can’t be overlooked.

We’re 3rd best right now, but that ends next year. If realignment had been this year, we’re no better than 5th, possibly 6th best.

everything is transactional for Franklin. He is in it for himself and the money. That is all he cares about.

If lucky we get rid of both JF and MY but I am sure they will get hugs and told good participation by the PSU administration

Allar stunk today. And the OL didn’t do him any favors. Neither did the receivers. Nobody on the offense stepped up. We couldn’t run or pass and Allar’s fumble sealed the deal.

Franklin apologists sound off. If you really believe he is the right guy for the job, let all of us know in the thread right now. NO BS about buyouts or anything else.
No one can defend this. It shouldn’t be this bad.

I’m not gonna pretend to know how this team is run. Clearly Franklin let’s Diaz run the D. Does he do the same with the O? He’s won a big ten title before with an innovative OC so it can be done. If he’s strictly a CEO then he might need to make some hard decisions on his staff.

Michigan: 0 pass plays in the 2nd half.

This game was strikingly similar to the tOSU game. Almost the same score. Totally inept offense. Solid D, for the most part, but gave up too many big plays.

The word that comes to mind after watching this game is "accountability". From the head coach to the freshman walk on, it's lacking.

I guess I just imagined the BS pass interference call on King

We had two losses last year to the same exact teams and we played in the...Rose Bowl.

Yeah, 10-2 (if that holds) gets us a pretty nice bowl especially if the B1G can squeeze both Michigan and OSU into the playoff (not impossible). Orange?

Mark Richt 2.0

But unlike at an SEC school, Big Game James will never be fired as long as he has winning records
TONS of fans are satisfied with this. They argue that 9-3/10-2 isn’t mediocrity, and they’re content to compare PSU to Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, Northwestern, MSU, Nebraska, and say, “They’d all love to be us!”

But people like us hold the program up to the bar of Ohio State and Michigan. We expect to be competitive with those programs.

Something tells me Pat Kraft isn't the kind of guy who is going to settle for 3rd place every year?

Going for 2 at the end of the first half changed the whole complexion of this game. Fraud-klin has to be one of the worst game coaches I have ever seen in my life, if not the absolute worst.
And even that completely asinine decision was topped when 4 1/2 minutes to go in the game rolled around.

You would be satisfied with that? BTW, Orange Bowl and Sugar Bowl reps were at the game today. I doubt that they would want PSU's offense stinking up Miami or New Orleans.

I wouldn't worry too much at this point. A few things I consider when thinking about this:
  • We will never play all those teams in one season, so relative rankings will be tricky inside the B1G going forward.
  • Michigan roughly recruits on about the same level we do over the long-term, so I do not see them having as long of a dominant run as OSU has had over the past decade.
  • Washington does not scare me after this year (we recruit better than they do).
  • Oregon is very good at recruiting, but I tend to view them as the newcomer who we will have the most parity with.
  • USC is an enigmatic wild card from year-to-year. They seem to underachieve their composite talent most seasons, but that talent is still always there and will always be a tough team to play.
