Gave away 6 points. FG for NW at the end of the first half due to a face mask penalty and a muffed punt in the 2nd half.

Face mask penalty may have cost PSU more points because it would have been 3rd and 15 for NW and there's a good chance we get the ball back with about a minute and a half left.

Lost at least 3 and possibly 7 points with the Allar end zone INT.

That's a minimum of 9 and a maximum 17 points given away primarily due to dumb plays.

This team lacks discipline. A trait of Franklin teams.

I said last week they were staring directly into the reality of a 7-5 season.

After today, it's more likely 5-7, possibly worse.

Which remaining games do you feel confident about?
Ohio State is a guaranteed loss.
Indiana is a guaranteed loss.
They're not beating Nebraska.

So, right there, you've got 6 losses.

They maybe beat Rutgers, Michigan State?

Iowa's a coin toss, at best.
Dude we are losing the rest of the games except maybe MSU. For sure we have a losing season. IF Franklin is gone immediately maybe we see a little rebound akin to UCLA but doubtful because Grunk most likely will look like Roberson.

PSU had concerns at DT and LB. Campbell was a big pickup at LB but Rojas got injured. Now it's Campbell and former walk on Deluca. Our $3 million defensive coordinator likes to play a 4-2-5 scheme but IMO we need two good DTs for that to work. Opponents send a guy in motion wide and Deluca follows leaving just Campbell. We're getting killed on runs up the gut and on quick passes over the middle.

I understand that he has a preferred style but at some point you have to adapt to your talent and what the opponent is doing. Speca is a sophomore but was a 4* consensus LB with offers from Michigan, OSU, ND, Tennessee, and A&M. Wylie was injured last year but he's a Jr with offers from Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and A&M. How bad can the defense be that these kids aren't seeing the field. Our 2 guys are gassed by the end of the game.
Deluca is lousy, gassed or not. The DLine is hideous and Barnes should be canned. Secondary totally overrated. No playmakers anywhere. Zane Durant, complete regression. DDS is like a guy with 40 home runs and 300 strikeouts.

Interesting stat from today's game:

The Penn State defense forced ZERO 3-and-outs on Northwestern.
Just from my recall -- on nearly all 3rd down plays for Northwestern, Penn State had 1 or sometimes 2 Safeties 10 or more yards off the line of scrimmage. And Northwestern consistently got receivers open vs PSU zone coverages
