This is a new low, even by Franklin standards. One has to wonder if he’s trying to get fired. Things are that bad right now.
This is the problem with these massive buyouts-- at some point the buyout is definitely preferrable to continuing to do the job.

There isn't a single person that would say no to a $54 million payday to walk away from the stress of doing their job.

In all seriousness if there was ever a performance that showed how there is zero player leadership on a team this is it. This team has a ton of veteran players on both sides of the ball and absolutely none of them have stood up and made a play or lost their **** on the sidelines. This team seems so weak from a confidence and team leadership standpoint. Maybe that comes from the top but at some point someone has to have a Cerrano moment and yell “F*%K YOU JOBU. I DO IT MYSELF”.

I think it’s a closer to 100% than 0% chance that’s what is happening now. This is the definition of “cruise control.”

Got to say I'm really down on the 2 LB 5 DB defense. We're not getting any pressure. Teams run on this front and the opposing QB has time to pick apart the soft coverage D. Is it coaching? I thought Knowles was such a great DC. I know Rojas is out but...
It works when you are OSU with 5 1st round draft picks at LB and DL. We don’t have that.

If anyone was curious. Can we start a go fund me??

James Franklin's buyout by year decreases over the term of his 10-year, 2021 contract, but the exact buyout amount changes annually based on his guaranteed salary for the remaining years of the deal. For example, as of the 2025 season, the buyout was an estimated $54 million and would continue to decrease by a specific amount each year, per the contract details.
His buyout is $56 million. Drops to $48 on Jan 1. Drops $8 million every year. Plus PSU staff is the highest paid staff in the country.

Have to agree, I was always in the "but who are you going to hire" camp. Can't be anymore. Down 20 with the ball and 2 minutes left and your concern is not giving b the ball to UCLA, and not trying to score a TD???? I don't care who they hire, this guy has to go!!!

You just need another 5 years for Knowles to install his defense. And $20m in NIL. And an All-Star team of coordinators capable of going out there and getting the recruits you need to play the positions he made up, because Jim ain't leaving campus to go talk to some stupid kids. He will be busy in his cave drawing up the plays to beat UCLA in their matchup in 2030. The D should be ripe by then.
