It was way inside…an atrocious throw.
It was not…it hit him in both hands in front of the left side of his chest…it was about three inches away from being a perfect pass. Even your announcer hero said it hit Allen in the 3 but it needs to hit him in the 1….thats not “way inside” by any means. If every college QB was held to that standard, they’d all stink.

Need a pick 6 or a scoop and score (or one of each) in the 2nd half by this defense.

First Downs: 16-4

Definitely stuff to clean up...but while running a vanilla offense, this is the performance that convinces some that we'll lose 4-5 games against a pretty soft schedule?
What makes it a vanilla offense? I've seen a wide variety of plays.

I don't want to be overly critical of Drew because he's a pretty good QB (especially in regards to taking care of the football). He seems to take quite a while to go through the progression of his reads (and he has a bad habit of "patting" the ball while he does it and has happy feet as well). He throws it much better when he's just completely committed to a throw if he gets the coverage he's looking for like on the TD pass at end of 1st half.

On plays where he has to go through his reads, he takes forever and almost always throws the ball late to the receiver he ends up choosing allowing defenders to close on the intended receiver. He's got to make his reads and final decision quicker.... and get the ball in the air. Honestly, most great QBs have said that if they can't find someone after a 3 or 4 count in their head, they take off from the pocket causing defenders to adjust to the fact the QB is in open space... then they either run for as much as they can before going OB OR throw it to an open receiver on a broken play "come back to QB" route. If you watched the Steelers game last Sunday - Aaron Rogers did this over and over (granted, AR has one of the most accurate arms and quickest releases on the move ever).

Nothing whatsoever to have Drew keep the ball. Very little misdirection, screens, etc. Little of the exotic formations/motions that we've seen from Andy K. No new wrinkles really shown from the playbook.

You think we've opened up the playbook the past three weeks? You think that Drew will keep the ball as little against Oregon as he has the last 3 weeks?

some here are hoping for that many losses

Some? The majority of folks on this board are miserable old hens who just want to biznatch about everything and anything. Nothing makes them happier than bagging on this team ... and this university ... as they fall back onto rosy retrospection of the past.

Yeah, Drew ran 6 times against Nevada and hasn’t run since, so we will definitely see more of that against Oregon and the rest of the way.

I think CJF hit the concern @ the half: still struggling with 3rd down conversions.
That has to be fixed for this team to meet their goals.

If I had to rank B1G @ this time, I'd go
1) OSU
1a) Oregon
3) Illinois
4) PSU

I am concerned the PSU offense Is unable to consistently impose their will. Oregon & OSU are doing it and Illinois is perhaps the most physical team in the B1G.

You could see him step into that one and let it rip. Doesn't happen enough. Seems like he performs better in hurry up situations.
Yup. Arguably his biggest issue: throwing mechanics are all over the place. When he steps in and delivers, he's a laser beam. Problem is that he just doesn't do it consistently.

PSU sent pressure on the punt, 'Nova gets it off, and PSU returns to the 'Nova 47 (or so)

Allar incomplete to Ross in the endzone. Good thing he overthrew it, as the DB was behind Ross

Singleton with a huge block for Allar as he's scrambling on 3rd & 9, and picks up the 1st down

When he's forced into his reads because his primary receiver isn't open, he takes forever to make a decision and appears very indecisive in general. When he does finally make a choice (especially a safety-valve underneath receiver), he throws it very late such that the defender has already read where he's going with it and is breaking on the now un-open safety-valve and often break up the pass. He's got to make his reads quicker and get the ball out faster to the secondary receiver while they're open.

hmm, 3rd & 6, and a handoff to Singleton for 2 yards

42-yard FG attempt by Barker.

The kick is good.

24-0, PSU, with 10:02 left in the 3rd qtr

Hated the 3rd down call, especially after Singleton got stuffed on 2nd down.

Risk aversion and indecisiveness were problems we saw in his first year as the starter. It's maddening that we're still seeing it in his 3rd year.
