Both @Son_Of_Saul and I have agreed to terms on a wager.

I’ve wagered that Kentucky will earn at least a 5 seed in the 2026 NCAA Tournament.

Saul has wagered that Kentucky will earn a 6 seed or worse.

The loser will have to use a Hello Kitty profile icon for two months.

Now, I’m putting my words to action, so if there’s any of you mopey sad sacks out there that only have negative things to say about the roster, reply to this thread and let me know you’d like to place a wager as well.

Go Cats!

I mean, it's not like some of us are having to go out of our way to see the negative with the state of the program right now. We've trailed by at least 15 points in our last three games against ranked opponents, dating back to last year's blowout loss against Tennessee. We've trailed by 20 points against both the teams we've played this year with any type of pulse. Every other week, it seems like we lose another starter to an undisclosed injury.

Three of the freshmen we recruited - Ament, Wilson, and Brown - are absolutely crushing it this year. All three play for hated rivals.

Our best player - Otega Oweh - has sleep walked through most of the first 7 games. There's been rumors of turmoil inside the locker room.

The main shooter we recruited - Wilkerson - is dominating at a historic rival, and one that we play in a few days. None of the Elite freshmen we've recruited - Rippey, Thompson, Crowe, Kinney - have committed to Kentucky. Collins is now waiting until the spring. We've lost all momentum with Stokes.

I hope Kentucky turns this thing around, but with very rare exceptions, injured and battered teams typically don't turn it around in time to compete for a Final Four. It just feels like we're already snake bit, and it's the first mile of the journey. Just bad luck for the second year in a row. It doesn't mean we won't win some important games. What it does mean is that having a Final Four juggernaut once again looks like it will be delayed by a season. I hope I'm wrong, obviously.

SOS is being generous with the 5 seed or better, but we’ll probably have a better idea of where this bet stands after this week. If the Wildcats lose both, it might be time to prepare yourself for the new avatar 😂

If Pope doesn't start landing some studs, it's going to be delayed longer than a season.

I don’t disagree with this. It isn’t a deal where you have to squint to see the bad —- the early season has been beyond disappointing. However, we’ve beat the dead horse and then started practicing jiujitsu on it with this roster stuff. I feel confident that I will win this bet, not because the early season hasn’t sucked, but because we have overstated and overestimated just how certain this means our demise will be. The injuries suck, but we are getting healthier. Oweh in an interview yesterday acknowledged how the turf toe has been affecting him, how he’s feeling much better now and knows he’s gotta start getting back to the hoop with drives. The shooting woes? Simply overrated. We are shooting 0.5% less from three than Florida did last season. I’m banking on Pope figuring this out and that’s why I took the bet. It’s in good fun, kind of a good natured rib at Son of Saul, who has become Son of Sad. I’m welcoming anyone else who wants to wager as well.

The NC game at home is big for you Village, I sure hope we win it for you. But when the point spread on this game was 8.5, there is no way I could have taken Ky to cover that. Sure hope I'm wrong, we shall see here soon. I just hope we win, even if it's 1 point.

37 and 3... Saul is a non believer.
Think it’s time we admit he’s right. This is not gonna end well. I have no idea how we are this bad. I earned the name with this wager. I hate it for Pope, but I don’t see how this turns around. We plug one hole and then there’s another. We stink. And I hate it, but I can’t see how Pope makes it at this rate.

Pope needs to turn it around fast.

What I do not like is we have too many players comfortable with losing.

He’s in over his head. I don’t want to think it but it’s beginning to look that way. I really hope he turns it around but let’s be real, he’s showing nothing to indicate he has a handle on this. Let me again iterate, I absolutely loathe saying that. You have no idea how bad I want it to work with Pope.
