So damn disappointed. He has got to grow up. Embarrassing for him, and I am sure he is embarrassed for everyone connected to him. Should be seeing a sports psychologist.

It was pathetic K played him in the second half, imo.

I'd be careful making judgments there... We don't know what K actually saw, or if he saw a replay, or what. I think it is worth giving Coach the benefit of the doubt a bit, no?

Regardless, K knew Grayson tried to trip him and he knew it was his third offense. It'll be interesting to see K's response. He already commented that it was inexcusable.

I agree. I'm in the camp that didn't think he should have played in the second half, but at the same time, I don't pretend to know what was said to him by the staff, either. I'll just assume in this instance that K knows more and is better equipped to handle it than I am.

Besides, this might not be aired out in public. Grayson will almost certainly be suspended, but I don't think you'll see much come out of the basketball office --- whether that be from players or the staff.

Definitely one of the dumbest things he could have done but hell the Oklahoma football player broke 4 damn bones in a girls face and Draymond Green kicks players nuts into there throat and they haven't got the backlash from the media that Grayson's getting. It was stupid and boneheaded but he didn't hurt no one. Media acts like he f'ing stabbed someone.

Coach K damn sure saw Grayson's behavior on the bench. That IMO was enough to sit him out second half no matter what he did or did not see of the trip.

Respect the hell out of K but I am giving my opinion that I do not respect his decision in this case.

I hate it, I'm not proud. But I fully support Gray. The outburst looked pathetic but it also showed he immediately knew how bad he screwed up. I'm confused how he could let it happen AGAIN tho.

It's not surprising how big of a story it is, but that should tell you just how big of a story everything Duke is. Unreal.

Jay Williams WAS my all time fav Dukie, that's slowly turned into a dislike. He obviously Welcome to his opinion, but why not offer some insight and guidience as an alum instead of sounding like Fing Hubert Davis talking about Duke. F Jays ESPN face

This is Grayson's third offense. That would be my argument. He clearly has some issues and the prior incidents did nothing to deter him tonight. It's very frustrating.

He needs some help for sure but he needs to be held accountable. Game suspensions is a must. Chewing him out, running the stairs is just not gonna get it. Feeling bad about it is not gonna get it. Apologizing is not gonna get it. He needs to be in a dress suit with a tie own and watch. OFC

I don't understand why people are always so hesitant to question the decisions of Coach K, or any coach for that matter, just because you're not that person or coaching at that level. Is Coach K, or any other coach in college basketball for that matter, perfect? No. Just because you have experience and qualifications to be one of the best ever at your job doesn't mean you're never wrong or that people don't have the right to question your decisions.

I'm surprised at how many people can't figure out what Grayson was mad about!!! It wasn't real pleasant on the eyes, but it also wasn't some disrespectful rant at the refs or coach(es)

I know it was frustration at himself. However, that does not make it the right behavior. I would have had an even bigger problem - personally - if he sat like an emotionless lump.

In that sense I am glad he showed emotion - it means he is not devoid of the knowledge that what he did was wrong. But the tantrum was too much IMO to let the kid play - just being sorry is not good enough IMO. That said I am going to lay off Allen. I hope he gets this monkey off his back.

K played him because they are better with him and K is paid to win. Thats why Green can kick people in the nuts and still play. Cousins can act like a bully douche and still play.

Not only that but it looks bad on Duke! It also costed us what looked like what was going to be a promising run. Furthermore here comes the whole "this is what Duke teaches" Mantra!

I totally agree with you. Jay Williams also forgets about his off court instances that cost him his NBA career!

Yeah but Duke is constantly held up as one of the few schools above win at all cost. If this kid doesn't get some sort of suspension, then it will be a sign that maybe Duke is not that different from a lot of other schools

I guess you could say Grayson is the most famous college player in the country but not for positive reasons but he brought it on himself. Right now I feel sort of the way I do when we lose. OFC

I was sitting 10 feet from the trip. Santa grabbed his arm a few times prior to that but nothing that deserved the leg drag. Grayson plays as if the world is against him. It's the source of his greatness and makes him act like a jerk when the ball isn't going in. He needs to totally own up this time and not hide behind being a target for rough play.

I do to Sky. I feel like we really lost tonight as fans because of our disappointment in Grayson.

There is no defending his actions. It's the third time. I don't know if he doesn't get it or if he just can't help it. Either way, it makes him look bad and perpetuates all the stereotypes out there about Duke kids. He should be suspended for at least the next game.

Like DukeDenver...I was right behind the bench as well....Grayson was 100% wrong, but to me it looked reactionary as the Elon kid locked his arm up in an attempt to sell the foul...totally bad optics

We are all human and we think and make decisions in micro seconds (and combine that with emotion) and some times we eff up and in that instance we realize it. I think right off the bat he knew it and I think something was said by one of the Elon players. If you have it taped you can actually rewind hear someone say "stop talking ****". So I think combining all of that he made a bad decision, regretted it right off and was probably in denial at the same time (mixed emotions). Obviously K know his guys better than we do but as an outsider looking in I would have sat him in the second half too. I hope he is hurt and embarrassed and grows and learns from this and becomes better for it.

Yeah, I think a game or 2 and strip him of his captain status, get some sort of general counseling, and move on....

When you do something over and over that becomes a habit and it's who you are as a player. Right now Grayson is a punk or a dirty player on the court. 3 times is who he is. Major changes needed to fix it.

Okay, stop now. The kid isn't "mentally unstable." Anyone saying that has no idea what mentally unstable looks like. He is being an immature idiot. The blow up on the bench was just a typical immature angry outburst. But he isn't murdering puppies or anything.

Correct but there's about 5,000 otherD1 bball players not having this issue. It's not because duke is under a microscope, it's because Grayson has an issue. I got no clue what it is or how to fix it, but it's clear he has one.

So I'm 5 rows behind Duke bench, Grayson blatantly trips opposing guard, screams F--- toward bench & throws a full blown temper tantrum when T is called. Very nice for all the families in attendance.

K must suspend him, Grayson is embarrassing the program.

Oh, I agree. But folks are literally saying stupid stuff like "OMG he is a sociopath!" No, he is a kid who is clearly really immature and has something going on. It sucks, and he needs help and support to work through it, but he isn't about to check into a mental hospital, you know?

I didn't get to see much of the game but I'll say this. Some here may differ with me and that's fine. To me , it's immaterial whether or not the game was needlessly physical or chippy or whatever. Stuff happens. Adapt. No excuse for what he did out there. On Twitter , I immediately fell into the "JWill says 5 games" camp. I can see it and don't feel it unduly harsh. Most don't seem to agree with me suggesting only 1 or 2 games at max. I dunno. Pretty egregious move on GA's part. And not fer nuthin' but he should zero contrition for it on the bench. Honestly , I thought he was acting like the "B" word and that's troubling. Also , if K doesn't step up and sanction Grayson immediately ( regardless of the penalty ) rather than waiting on the ACC to do it , I'll find that troubling as well.
