Yeah, they were ****.... we should have taken better advantage of it however and applied more pressure when they went zone.
And I know this may sound bad, but damn Phillips can make some bonehead plays that costs us dearly.
Like watching us loose to Iowa St in B12 tourney. We outplayed them but couldn't make baskets.
I love Phillips but he really hurt us last night. Their big guy intimidated us inside. He changed shots that we normally make. But as poorly as we played, we still should've won that game. It was hard to take.
Doc...is there anything you might be able to do to help some of our shooters. I don't remember ever seeing so many shots that missed everything. Looked like they couldn't see the basket.
When Adrian's first two shots were air balls, I knew we were in trouble. I thought we would win that game. I haven't felt this bad about a game since 07 pitt.
This was like watching us lose to Iowa St all over again. Too many missed easy shots and no one was on except Carter. Phillip, Miles, Macon, West, Ahmad, Myers, Watkins....none of them hit **** all night.
I still though we would pull it out. Our shooters looked very hesitant the whole game. It looked like the plan was to go inside which led some of our guy to question when to take open mid range shots. We will be very good next year and if when develop a solid game around the rim we "Could Go All The Way".
I think their center really caused a lot of redirected shots close in and that hurt.
Just when I thought we had the game two straight bad turnovers and then the worst possible player gets fouled (Miles) who misses both. Just wasn't their night.
Many missed lay-ups and zero touch around the basket. We lost out on many and-one attempts.
I hate to come down on any single player because all these guys play hard and represent WVU well but I've never understood the thing we saw at the end of the game last night and we sometimes see in other games when the clocking is running out and the team with the ball is down three and one guy just dribbles and waits until the last second to take a shot. It would make sense if the game was tied and you wanted to be sure OT was your worst possible outcome, but when you're trailing by three you've got to at least be moving the ball around and trying to get someone an open 3 shot. If you make it then maybe the other team has a few seconds to try to score but OTOH if you miss it then maybe you get a rebound and get another shot.

Beetle came open off his screen, but the shooters had decided the final shot should be JC who was well covered. #3 was the only one who was going to get a shot with single cover.
WV shot piss poor, and there was a reason. That was a hell of a good defensive team in the other uniforms. With that size, ever shot was altered nearly. Who would have thunk we would have a shot going down the stretch? I thought we would be down double figures by that point. Huggs called time when Zags looked like they were going to make their move and stopped the potential run. Hell of a year, and could have been just a little bit better.
I'm still pissed. At least we can feel fairly confident that this team will be really good next season.
Yep, that's my greatest consolation. We will be really good next year. Even though a few of these guys had horrible games, you have to give them credit, they work their *** off and they never quit.
