Ohio Issue 2 and Issue 3

Issue 3 legalizes medicinal use of marijuana and recreational use for those 21 and older. It restricts growing sites to ten, all under the umbrella of different but connected investment groups. Limited personal growing is allowed with the purchase of a $50 license that needs to be renewed annually.

Issue 2 prevents the use of the state constitution to establish monopolies, oligopolies, or cartels, etc...this would effectively invalidate Issue 3 if passed.

If both measures pass, the courts will surely be deciding the resolution.

Thoughts?

Ohioans, how will you vote?

Any government not willing to legalize it at this point are just being stupid. Saw that Colorado is realizing over $100 million PER MONTH in additional revenue from legalization.

Meanwhile, in Kentucky it took all out political war to get industrial hemp legalized just a few years ago.

21+ is for recreational, thanks for pointing that out. I meant to flip recreational and medicinal in the sentence.

Anyone prescribed could utilize medicinal....for example, concentrated CBD has displayed very positive results in treating epilepsy / seizures in young children.

So would the KY highway cops just set up roadblocks on the bridges in Cincy?

I doubt it.

Seems like there's more to worry about in Covington and Newport than adults inhaling the fumes of a burning plant, but those bridges are the gateway to the bible belt, so you just never know.

Lol Ky has 4828938383 counties man. Best believe they're gonna be lookin for easy money. Rural towns *love* roadblocks now.

Honestly not sure how the KY police would ultimately react.

Is it feasible to check every car coming across the bridges during rush hour? Obviously not. Could I see later evening checkpoints being setup? Yes, I do think they might attempt that, at least initially.

The difference between the other states and specifically NKY / Cincy is the concentration of traffic. It's easy for Kansas to funnel people into a rest area checkpoint on 70 without affecting traffic. In NKY / Cincy, you have people crossing the river multiple times daily.....and for many, home or their destination in NKY is a matter of minutes away, easily accessible using low traffic roads. There isn't really an extended stretch of highway they could efficiently setup a checkpoint on unless they push it south of the main NKY hub.

And at that point, anyone with a brain would've hit the backroads anyway.

So, do I think the KY police will lay down on this? Absolutely not. But....I think it's going to prove to be very, very difficult for them to manage.

Another thing I've thought about is potential cooperation between Cincy and KY police. For example....maybe a Cincy cruiser spends an hour near a parking lot of a dispensary checking for KY license plates, and communicates the make / model of the vehicle to a KY team across the river.

Sounds like an unbelievable waste of time and resources (and I really have no idea what the legality of that would even be) but I wouldn't put it past the KY police to attempt something like that if they could get buy in.

Probably just general paranoia speaking there. If someone wants to debunk that one, feel free.

They would absolutely do that in order to catch peeps trafficking it to KY. That is their job. They're gonna do it.

So in other words, buy the stuff, smoke it down at the river and head up to the top floor of that hotels that spins around. Does it still spin?

As someone that lives in Ohio, let me tell you how beyond unexpected and amazing this is. I've actually never voted before - but I will be this year.

No on 2, Yes on 3.

If this backwoods *** state was smart, we'd legalize too. Big if, I know.

Pension system? Funded fully in a few years.
****** infrastructure? Also improved within a few years.
Maybe eastern Kentucky could start some sort of marijuana tourism industry and become more similar to Gattlinburg than Deliverance.

Might even curb the heroin/pill/meth epidemic (not eliminate) if people could spark up without fear of jail.

Our soil is fertile and wonderful for growing, but by all means, let's keep pimping booze (that isn't legal in all counties) instead.

Just a note about roadblocks..I learned this in traffic school btw, the police have to inform the media when they are setting up a roadblock. Apparently someone sued on the grounds that taxpayer money was being used without his knowledge after being stopped at a roadblock and he won.

The bible thumpers don't want you to drink, gamble, or smoke weed. By outlawing it in Ky, nobody can do the sin triumvirate. Case closed.......

Kentucky will have medical marijuana after the other 49 states have recreational marijuana available for at least 5 years.

I think Cincy cops are happy to push crime into NKY for us to deal with. Can't see them cooperating with the cops at all.

Just about a week away.

From what I can tell based on polls and other information collected from the interweb....it's going to be very, very close. Really thought this would be DOA, but I'm not sure that is the case at this point.

LET'S GO MILLENNIAL VOTERS LET'S GO
