Hope were just giving Block and Williams a possible rest and not thinking of replacing them with the Voinivichs.
I don't see sny benefit to having Williams wrestle other than not wrestling him is an admission of a huge NIL recruiting blunder.
Or...a big mistake having him at 157.

I do think 49 is his ideal weight but is for Block as well, maybe that changes next year. Williams is Hawks best oppurtunity in the tournaments over VV, just my opinion. He is still ranked in the teens by the so called experts.

Brands knew last year that Block was a 149, I assume.

There can be more than 5 Hawk fans that look at Williams and honestly think he was big enough for 157.
Hell, I'll argue he's closer to a 141 than a 157.
Ridiculous.

Of the two, I got to think Block could put on the good weight in the upcoming off season through strength training and healthy diet before Williams. He just doesn't seem committed to the whole wrestling thing. I wonder if him and Bailey will even be back with Iowa next year. Not for sure on how money contracts work in college athletics but if not set in stone, how they end the year will likely determine future financing with Hawks.

Not sure where the negativity towards Williams comes from. He has wrestled hard lately with the only mental hiccup coming at ISU.

Yes he gave up the 7 point move last week but at least he went for it and took the risk instead of accepting a loss. And he was able to fight hard to not give up the pin in a nasty bow and arrow. If he was quitting like some seem to think he could have easily rolled over.

Mental hiccup ya say? Did you forget the stall out at Nebraska?

Meanwhile... Lilledahl, Blaze, Van Ness, Duke, Mesenbrink, Haines, Welsh, Barr, and Mirasola will probably go again this week for PSU. As they have most weeks this season. Crazy how they're able to roll their best dudes out week after week after week and we have multiple starters out every week.

It's the HC's fault that these guys are wrestling like they are.

Given his history, Williams was always a high risk addition to the Hawks.

This year's edition of chaos isn't the only time it has happened.
Hell, for that matter, Teemer was a massive risk when he was brought in.
His affection for smoking weed wasn't exactly a well kept secret.

The primary reason for hitting the portal so hard was lack of development with the high school recruits.
Shiit runs downhill. The problem starts at the top.

That’s because they don’t wrestle anyone till late in the season. Meantime Iowa, Nebraska,Ohio State and others are wrestling in national duals and more.

THIS x100%. Cael is still playing chess while these other coaches are playing checkers. That dual invite helped 2 coaches. Cael and DT. It also greatly weakened CKLV which was the last remaining good in season tournament.

DT was there and they wrestled a pretty good schedule and they still have you.

As a Bucks fan you can see some guys slowing down having to wrestle a high ranked guy week in week out. Bucks have you, PSU, Maryland and then 3 weeks off before B10.

To be fair only OSU might be competition for PSU and their guys will wrestle OSU in a dual meet, in the big cans, and nationals. Why wrestle the fourth time? Why wrestle Iowa again another time?

This holds zero water, 1/2 the PSU team wrestled much of the summer in freestyle. Yeah, I can see a lighter schedule up front. They still have to wrestle a big 10 schedule and they are not ducking anyone. They are not immune from injuries with Barr and Nagao.

Before looking like more of a moran you may want to look the last few years how many times Penn State has set out guys.

Hope Bailey gets the finger healed up, he was just starting to hit on some offense.

His fingers injuries have to be really bad. The way he wrestles I believe its really hampering him as guy that needs 100% grip strength as a rider, turner. Its probably more that than being undersized.

He has been disappointing but if he healed up I feel way better about him than Williams. I could see him wrestle well above seeding in March if whatever is going on gets healed. I don't feel that way with Williams.

You need a timeout to get Brand’s balls outta your mouth. Once you do that you contemplate whether or not Iowa wrestling is truly where it should be

He does always look small. Not sure how hard he cut to 149, but Block just looks a lot bigger. Probably still pulling a fair amount of weight to go 149. 141 was ridiculous for him, but he was desperate to find a spot.

141 was way too low for Block. He looked like Jack Skellington and it's not surprising he was constantly injured. That could not have been healthy.

There's nothing that restricts anyone from leaving if they wish.

I have no issue with Williams at 157. On the smaller side, sure. But better than seeing a guy look worthless on Day 2.

All of you annoying babies need a timeout.
Now go to rooms wipe your tears look in the mirror and contemplate your decisions in life. Go Hawks

I didn't see you as being a "head in the sand" Brands bootlicker.

Just kidding...I totally did.

In fairness PSU's starter at 141 is replacing the injured starter and Barr missed the first 6-7 weeks. Not quite the same but definitely have had injuries. Just don't notice them as much since they're fairly inconsequential to the outcome of duals.
