I'm not interested in all of this NIL garbage and am slowly losing interest in college football as it becomes more commercialized and a "pay to play" feel. I don't care if Penn State Football ever wins another game. I think we need to turn our focus to the tailgating. Who cares what happens on the field, lets tailgate so hard for every game. These kids now a day have no clue about tailgating. They walk around with their heads in their phones (killing their battery because service is a disaster on game day). Let's teach them how to get completely blown out! Beer pong, flip cup, dizzy bat, you name it! Let's drink ourselves into a point of carelessness and just enjoy the tailgating experience. Heck don't even go into the game. Just get 100k ppl in one place at one time to party and enjoy the day. That's what I'm talking about!

I haven’t been able to find much on the details of Ewers’ NIL deal except that it was for three years for autographs and memorabilia. Nothing about guaranteed money. Nothing about playing time. But if the owner of the autograph company wanted to speculate about the possible future value of Ewers’ autograph and pay him $1.4 million guaranteed for future autographs, the owner would have to sell 14,000 of Ewers’ autographs at $100 profit on each autograph in order to break even. I don’t know anything about the autograph business, but $1.4 million seems like a lot of money. I imagine there were conditions to the deal; a guaranteed money deal seems unlikely.
Yeah, agree about some kind of conditions to a deal this huge although we're probably never going to know the exact details. I bounce around several websites all over the country and have read about several requirements to Ewer's deal with that marketing firm, including having to start so many games and playing time, but I really believe it's all just guesswork and speculation at this point. But - being realistic, no marketing firm is going to guarantee $1.4 million without built in requirements especially with the kid transferring into a stacked QB room like OSU's was last year

Not sure how this is going to get fixed at Penn State, but it’s going to be a real issue if things don’t start shifting this year. Ultimately, the markets are going to have a big impact.

Columbus vs State College are on two totally different scales, but PSU can’t keep pushing the power of the alumni association for the future. That power has to be bumped up to help current players or it’ll be a big hurdle for the staff to overcome.

Thoughts?

It is stuff like that that is causing me to reconsider my affinity for college football and whether to renew my season tickets or not. I don't like where college football is headed.
