This is what it looks like when you commit to spending money to make your program better!
No other way to spin it folks!
I've been real critical/busting ballz in regards, but this is more a case of Louisville having stupid NIL money and being able to throw it at available players that care about only money.
McNeely will be a 6th man at Louisville and definitely could have started someone else. He obviously is about nothing but that bag.
Tennessee didn't think he was necessarily worth throwing a bag at, either.
Louisville is overpaying for these dudes because, like I said, they can and frankly they feel they have to in order to be able to compete with Duke in the ACC.
There are still a lot of potential big booms left to come in the portal, and definitely some nice medium size booms that could definitely help a teams like Kentucky / Tennessee.
Using both as examples, both of us ended up having pretty good teams despite not being at the top of the NIL in terms of money last year.
Problem for both of us was we ended up having injured players that set us back. If not for that, I guarantee things would have turned out a little better for both.
I still have faith we'll be ok.
Definitely do need to get us a couple boom-worthy portal pick-ups, tho. Just have to remain calm because it is still relatively early.
