Pistols are scarce and armslist has changed everything making it difficult to contact sellers

Thought I'd ask the experts :)

Academy Sports has had a decent selection. Pawn shops in the area have been OK, but yeah definitely hard to find exactly what you’re looking for.

With proper planning, you’d have had all the guns and ammo you need prior to this mess. I have two rules: 1) I never go to the grocery without buying beer, and 2) I never go to a sporting goods store without buying some ammo

Go see my buddy at Ky Gun Co in Bardstown.
Last time I was in there, there were 50+ cars in the parking lot/street. I did a quick scan of license plates and almost all were Jefferson co, Oldham and Fayette. A few were from eastern KY and down around Bowling Green. It was weird. Some of the people buying guns you could tell they didn't know anything about guns.

I have bought several guns during the pandemic—2 Glock 43’s and an AK—as said already just gotta look around and plan a little ahead. I bought one of them at my local gun shop after I signed up on a waiting list for one of the Glock 43, then the other two I bought on gunbroker auction site from dealers/pawn shops across the country. Def pay more thru the auction site but demand dictates price just as with the ammo. If you are willing to pay for it it’s worth it IMO.

Yeah I bet a bunch of folks who ran out and bought an AR when the prices were $1,500 and more were kicking themselves when the prices dropped back down to $500 or so.

Especially with ammo. Ammo can sit in a safe or closet for decades......so, buy when it's cheap......buy in bulk.....and when you shoot, use the oldest stuff.

Another reason why I'm not buying is due to the election. If Biden wins, he might turn us all into felons.

Bought 4 guns at different times at Sportsman's Warehouse (Crescent Springs) this summer.

SIg Sauer P365 SAS
S&W "We the People" 38 special (wife's first gun)
Mossberg 88 12 gauge
Kel Tec Sub2K

Ammo is a completely different story. Have a buddy that's a sheriff that was able to get me 5 more boxes (2 9mm, 2 40cal and 1 38spcl) just this last week, but that was just pure luck.

SIg Sauer P365 SAS

How do you like that?

I don't really understand the concept. I own a P365 and consider it the best concealable 9mm but I highly prefer a Glock 19.

I really don't want a bigger P365. The grip is too narrow (and I have medium size hands) for me. I guess I just don't get it.

I really like it. I would consider my hands to be on the smaller side and the grip feels very comfortable. Only had a chance to shoot it once so far, but I really like it. Perfect for concealed carry.

I did some research online and had a couple guns in mind when I went to the store and the P365 SAS was the only one they had available at the time (probably mid-to-late August) so I picked it up.

I don't think the SAS is a bigger form of the 365.....if that's what you were implying. It simply smooths down the design......Sig Anti-Snag......flush sights, flat controls, smoothed out slide, etc.

Comparing the 365 and the G19 is two different models/purposes. One is very small and the other is medium.

You're correct. I mistook the Sig P365 SAS for the Sig P365 XL. I don't understand the appeal of the P365 XL since it just seems like a bastardized version of the Glock 19 (which is the same as the new models that Glock has introduced to compete with the P365 and P365 XL).

My apologies.

Everyone has copied Glock.....and I don't blame them. And the G19 is the most popular design.....thus it's the most copied. I welcome the competition.

I definitely agree with you on the 365XL though. Sig now has the 365XL and the 320 Compact. Why have both? They're only very, very slightly different. Just different enough to increase production costs but not different enough that 99% of consumers will notice.

Picked up a Sig P365, S&W Shield, and SA XD-9 during the pandemic. Just had to watch and be patient. Luckily, an FFL around the corner from my house and had them within 2-4 days.

Search online for the cheapest price. Buy it online and have them ship it to your local FFL. Pay them $20-50 to transfer it to you. A lot of the time even paying the extra 20-50 you can get stuff cheaper that way.

There are times places have sales like Ky gun co, cabelas, dunhams that have great prices though.

I've got all the guns I need. Just wish I had bought more bulk ammo when it was reasonable. I maintain at least 2K rounds of every caliber, but don't want to burn it up at the range. Thus, no range time for a while.

Nah, that would be too much competition for his family.

Thinking about having my wife to get me a new CCW for Christmas. Trying to decide between a Sig P365, Glock 43 or a Kimber Micro 9. I like the idea of a 10+1 in a 9MM that is so small and concealable but heard the P365 had some issues. Does anyone know if they have them worked out now? I also like the mini 1911 look of the Micro 9 but always felt Kimber seems to be overpriced and have never owned one. I guess I could always get both. 🤷‍♂️

Sig jumped all over the issues quickly. By far the largest issue was light primer strikes......or firing pin breaking. They fixed this very quickly and the reputation for reliability is really taking off. I think if it's a fairly new pistol, you won't have issues.

The G43 is typical Glock. It's a no frills tank. It's not the most comfortable. It' s not the most ergonomic. But it works without fail. On mine, I replaced the sights, added Talon Grips, and extended base plates.

I don't have a lot of experience with Kimber.....so, take what I say here with a grain of salt. I know that 5-10 yrs ago, quality control was really hit/miss. I would assume that things have improved, but I can't guarantee it.

Thanks for the info. I figured that most issues had been resolved. I watched a couple of videos where they mentioned firing pins dragging.

Also as a PSA for Antifa or BLM folks who think they want to invade rural areas I would recommend staying away from where Hickok45 lives because I am pretty sure you wouldn't like what happens if you invade his house.

So, it looks like the consensus is that everyone needs to carry a concealed weapon for their protection since the election. What does that say? I can see a lot of people spending a lot of money and time on lawyers to defend their right to defend themselves. I don't think there are going to be many times when you shoot a robber or thief and never have a problem, even the cops can't do that any more. JMO but the country is going to hell, and electing crooks backed by the BLM (now making demands) is just the start of the problems.

I can just see it now.

The bad guy who tried to attack Hickok45's house goes to Hell.

Satan: So, kid, how'd you end up down here?

Criminal: I tried to ran-sack Hickok45's place....

Satan: (spits out a good portion of his Milwaukee's Best while laughing) You actually tried his place? Wow......how he kill ya?

Criminal: It was a wicked quick snap shot from a 1987 S&W Revolver. Dude nailed me in the nose from 80 yds with an old pistol........

Walked into Copperhead today in Prestonsburg. I was surprised to see as many pistols, shot guns, rifles, and ammunition. Nice place. May go back tomorrow and buy something. Shew.

I really like the Sig P365 SAS...the sights are different but once you’ve practiced with it, it’s pretty intuitive.

I just ordered a Wilson Combat AR from Whittaker’s...should be available for pickup tomorrow the day after.

In regard to ammo...talk to people who work in the stores and find out when their trucks arrive...be there when they do
