that Cadillac Lyriq is a nice looking car
Friend of mine got one. Brags about how little it costs per mile. I told him to look under the car to see all the kids that are working to make the parts.

Assembled and mostly Made in America. Your friend is a true patriot and drives past gas stations.

Assembled at Spring Hill Manufacturing in Spring Hill, Tennessee for North America and at a new EV-only plant in Yantai, China for Asia, Cadillac started accepting customer orders for the 2023 Lyriq in the United States in May 2022.[6][7]

SPRING HILL, TN—LG Energy Solution has delivered the first battery cells produced at the Ultium Cells' assembly plant here. The cells will be used in General Motors' third-generation electric vehicles, including the Cadillac Lyriq.Apr 27, 2024

GM builds the electric motors in-house. GM China is massive. The Cadillac Lyriqs sold in China are made in China. And more Lyriqs were sold in China last year than in the US.Feb 16, 2024

He’s a MAGA republican. He’s an anesthesiologist and made more in a year than most make in 10 years. His wife drives a 6 liter new GMC truck. He wouldn’t have gotten one except for all the goodies Biden thru out there. He’s got a Tesla in Hilton Head. He retired this past sept at 62.

I drove a Lincoln Corsair for a few weeks just to try it out. It's a hybrid and I was impressed with its fuel mileage. The nice thing about it was it recharges the battery while it's in "gasoline" drive mode, so you never really have to plug it in! You can see on the dash when it switches to "electric drive" than back over to gasoline. It will run mostly on electric power unless you put it under throttle, or it's going up hill. On the highway, it's smooth and effortless and has a "smart cruise" mode where it maintains the pre-set cruise control no matter the traffic. A nice feature. It will easily cruise in electric for hours without needing a recharge.

It's a little disconcerting pushing the start button, and not hearing the engine, but you get used to it. If there's a future for EV's for the average daily commuter, I think these hybrids may be the answer. That vehicle got close to 41 miles per gallon, never required more than 35 dollars to fill and never needed a recharge of its batteries which as I said charge whenever the vehicle is using the engine. Plus it is smooth and quiet. I was impressed, but I still prefer my fully equipped, gasoline powered '24 Expedition XL Platinum Max (shown below) with the 3.5 liter twin turbo V6 pushing 440 HP. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Here's how that battery works by the way.

1994 Toyota Corolla

'ol boy is still making payments on it too! :joy:

@moe
I don't appreciate you Trumpers making fun of my Corolla...that car was state-of-the-art during the heady Clinton years! After 700,000 miles... it only burns a little more oil than it used to but since Dems haven't gotten rid of oil yet that's why I'm still driving it!

Just damn @moe ....do you ever change the oil in that rust bucket? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

@moe
No! I'm not like you wasteful gas guzzlin' Trumpers! I'm saving the planet!!!!!
