Stanford wrestles Utah Valley over the weekend before our dual and their
lineup may not be set. They are very strong 157 through 174 and 133 , 174
which I predict wins could go the other way. Match could easily be 21-12
instead of 27-6.

I think we see Valencia at 149. This will be a great dual with huge tests for Figs, Robideau/ Travis and Lockett. As you implied Lorenzo Norman at 174 will also be a great opener for Facundo who will be running a gauntlet the following weekend at Natty Duals.

Edit: Provo is no slouch at 125 either.

I think we see Mower at 197. Merrill will get a chance at Ntl Duals when in better shape.
If he's not ready to go right away that's not good. How was he allowed to be so out of shape in November? He was 252 in HS and I commented on the old boards he's gonna have issues at 197. People didn't like that but here we are

Maybe I missed something, but it seems that Robideau probably handles Teague and will be the man at 157. Maybe something was off last Thursday, but Robideau has tremendous strength. Did not matter how deep Teague got in on him in shots the takedown was going to Robideau.

2 mods disagree 🍿. I'm with Atown here. He's definitely a big 197 and thats part of the issue. Chase I'm sorry but you gotta stop believing everything "they" tell you.

Eh, I don’t think he looks big. I feel he could put on weight/muscle and do a little bit harder cut.

Him compared to AJ, Buchanan, Luke, Little, etc. is noticeable to me. I’m okay with being wrong though.

Hes thick. Most people didn't believe he was 250 either but he was. I posted his weigh in weight on the old boards from a Jan HS tournament. Some guys are bigger than they look.

So you think he just lost and weight had nothing to do with it? If that's the case you should be worried. I'm not worried about him because as he weighs in more his body will adjust

He was 220 in Fargo July 2023

He is built a lot like Christian Carroll. I talked to Christian and he said there was no way he could hold 197 as he just could not wrestle a full match. Freestyle was ok as he could pull the weight and recover, but college was a different story. I think most of these kids think that they can will their bodies to be at a lower weight, but at some point nature takes over. With that coach Taylor has confidence in Merrill and mentioned something after the match that he expected different results and told us what we saw was a data point. The first period was much different than the second and third period with Merrill and Mower. Give credit to Mower and his length is definitely and advantage in riding.

There is nothing to be wrong about. When he has wrestled other 197 pounders he looks noticeably smaller.
All those guys are taller with length. Cody is short and thick . Hes down 55lbs from his max weigh in weight 2 years ago. Also how you lose the last 7 matters.

I'm not sure what you are trying to argue. Can't both be true. Cody can have lost a ton of weight and still be small for 197. Yeah it is because he is short but length is part of it. If I was 5'4" with trex arms but weighed 285 I would still be a smaller heavyweight.

He's not a small 197 and he lost because of weight issues. The narrative that he's small isn't true. His cert #s probably said hes a 184 but that doesn't mean he's a small 197. Gabe Arnold cert said 157 in the past when he was a 174 that doesn't mean he's a small 174. You can choose to not believe me that's fine I'm just telling you what I know

This isn't about what anyone "knows" or "hears". It's about what we can see. I'm not talking about weight. His overall frame is smaller than other 197 pounders. He looks noticeably smaller than these other guys, even if he doesn't weigh less.

I'm not saying he should be 184. 197 might be the perfect weight for him.

Not sure where Provo or Norman were but I hope we see them this week. If we see starters give me Knox , Cardenas and Garvin to win . And a 27-9 Oklahoma st win. Be some good matches from 125-174 then after that the last 3 won't be competitive Stanford will struggle at 184 197 HWT
