No guarantee he would have come to Kentucky and tough to fault a head coach for not wanting offensive coordinator turnover and then to expect it again, because the expectation (from many) was that Riley would leave Lexington as quickly as he entered. No doubt Riley's a great offensive coach, but he was about as interested in Kentucky as Austin Kendall was...i.e. until there was greener pasture.

Whats your opinion on this thought:.....Since he was thought to be the favorite for the OC job at UK, and we didn't hire him, is it because Stoops was laying off of his older brothers coach?

I guess he's also a better offensive mind that Petrino as well, he couldn't scheme around those shortcomings until a freak talent like Jackson came about....

So for the record people on this thread puts Lincoln Riley above Petrino and Art Biles, and don't take into consideration what he inherited when he got to Oklahoma..... Man we need to sign him up for head coach!!! Smh...

Man you love your strawman's.

Why do I keep hearing Stoops controls what the offensive coordinator calls? Does Stoops call the plays on offense?

Oh I think he did, and offered him a job, and was turned down. too much scuttlebutt around Riley with UK last December, including insider Matt Jones 'accidentally' sending a tweet that was supposed to be a direct message out that just said "Lincoln Riley" only to be followed up with quick apologies. The hire of Dawson lasted into January because he was 2nd choice.
Dawson was hired on December 17th.
And Oklahoma didn't fire their old coordinator until January 6th.

I'm not sure we chose Dawson over Riley, but I know Oklahoma had nothing to do with it.

Looks like big Brother Bob let Mark do the vetting process for him. LOL!
Story goes that Mark told Riley he had a couple to interview and we kind of slow played him a bit. I think Mark was in such Damien Harris mode it just went the way it did. I think ECU also tried to get him to stay and be the coach this year if things didn't work out 2015, Mike Leach was former Bob OC, heard he told Bob that Riley was great etc.. The money that we were offering was a lot more than he was making. I think if we offered than Riley is probably here. Just saying.
