This is what one of the UNC idiot named Tom79 had to say about Coach K having surgery. I guess it only applies to coaches they detest and not to their own Leroy Williams.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"A few more trips to the repair shop and K better get the retirement posts started, the guy is old, falling apart and getting metal put in hips and knees...now we all know Roy had some work but K is beyond the hair color thing".

There was a saying when I was a kid in reference to people that weren't too smart "if your brain were gas you wouldn't have enough gas to ride a mini bike halfway around a Cheerio" this saying applies to a huge majority of the posters over at THR

Hey THR, is he quitting on his team?

Stuff like this is exactly why I have trouble wishing any of them and Roy well publicly. Of course I hope all goes well for him but just as recently as K's two latest surgeries they still used it as some sort of way to take a shot at K and how he is "falling apart." Screw them.

Eh, for some reason I never let the rivalry get in the way of being an actual human being. Do I think Roy knew about all the fake classes and is not as honest as he wants to people to believe? Absolutely. But I think he did what a lot of others have done in the past too, tried to take shortcuts to get ahead. I'm not going to wish harm on anyone and I wish him the best with his surgery.

I think there's a good chance ol' Roy didn't know what he was walking into academically when he took the job. How he handled it afterwards is on him, but I'm not going to act like I would've done things any differently than he. I've never been in such a pressure packed situation with all the public scrutiny. My gut tells me he's no scumbag and he's no saint. Most of us have taken shortcuts. I won't stand and judge too harshly, unless we're discussing sports coats.

Thing is unx fans won't even concede that much. A troll fools some people on Twitter into believing he's someone other than who he says he is and BOOM! unx'ers think they've been exonerated. Their athletic program is guiltless as is Roy. Heck , at this point they're not satisfied with simply rubbin' our noses in the fact they got away with it. No , they want absolution for athletics...and for Roy too. Roy and unx are no less guilty than they've ever been. Moreso , even , given the extent unx has taken to "lawyer up..."

http://www.newsobserver.com/news/local/news-columns-blogs/john-drescher/article77435637.html

Personally , I hope Roy does fine outta surgery but the same sentiments for K are few and far between whenever he has health issues. We've already seen the "quitting on his team" bs. THAT is chapter and verse from The Krazy Karolina Fakbuk. "K faked a back injury/quit on his team." Gospel according to the Tarhole Nation. *BTW...it has nothing to do with this but that same "troll" who fooled others was also fooled himself shortly thereafter. Funny that unx fans didn't mention it or doubt his credibility over it. #carolinaway

You wonder why it took 4 years for Johnson to truly emerge...I think a better developer of talent than Roy begins to reap the benefits sooner...That said given their unbelievable load of talent this year theres NO WAY UNC should not have won it all. In fact I will go a step further: Roy blew it w/his catastrophic defensive assignment on the final play....

+216 x a gazillion! The so-called "blue-blood" programs rarely have teams laden with upper-classmen these days...especially when those upper-classmen enter college ranked Top 20-25 ( and higher! ) Many of 'em Mickey D'ers. Can ya imagine a Coach K team with juniors/seniors Okafor , Winslow and Jones? Ingram? Jabari? Hood?Austin Rivers even? Holy Shnikkies! Add a couple of us from this forum and any combo wins multiple titles. Kids of their status avoid unx NOT because of scandal-related issues but because of ROY! If you're a Mickey D'er lookin' to play at a top school , compete for a natty , showcase your abilities , grab a high draft-slot then get your NBA money asap? unx ain't the school for you. It just isn't. Sure , that could change but Roy's track-record of player-development is nowhere near K's. Heck , even his 4-year guys ( Plumlees , Shavlik , Lance Thomas , JJ etc. ) not only make it to the league but THRIVE. What was the NBA potential for Mason and Miles? Lance? Shav? JJ? Redick's a star fer cryin' out loud. Given what was predicted for all of 'em ( Mason included! ) they're killin' it. Geez Louise , isn't Shav STILL in the league?! And what happened to that Krazy Karolina Fakbuk sermon that Duke didn't produce good big men? That "gospel" has bitten the dust. Don't hear that one preached very much anymore. And why ANY wing would ever even consider playin' for Roy is beyond me. They're useless in his system. Is there even enough bandwidth to list the ones that K uses and develops to their fullest potential? Worst mistake Barnes ever made was goin' to unx but in hindsight I wouldn't change a thing. Regardless , he's a "system" coach and if he doesn't have the absolute best ( and OLDEST! ) players , he's very human. Like I said , I hope he stays there another 10-15 years. What is it now? 28 to 13 since 1999 with chances for another Duke sweep lookin' well within reach next season? I'll take it.

You are preachin to the choir sir!! Yeah the "Duke guys dont make it in the pros" mantra from Cheater Hill died a long time ago.....They cannot even prop up that old ditty anymore- its as useless as a Helms title banner for a a so-called "dark ages" natty title..

The thing about it is the fact that Roy has NEVER produced boatloads of NBA talent...even while he was at KU. There he had Paul Pierce. And? Kirk Heinrich maybe? Past those 2 an' yer lookin' at a lotta Scottt Pollards , Drew Goodens , Jacque Vauhgns an' Mark Randalls. Tell ya somethin' else...personally , I've never felt it was a COLLEGE coach's job to get his players to the NBA. It's not his primary job anyway. Thing is , the game's changed so much so there's an emphasis on prepping these elite kids as much as possible. Coaches won't have 'em very long ( unless they play for Roy ) and the players wanna get as much outta their brief stays as possible...showcase , play with other elites , vie for a title etc. At this particular moment in time , unx just ain't the place to do all that....unless they wanna stay in college longer than similarly ranked players and hope to challenge for a title with fellow upper-classmen in their senior years. Hey , it damn-near worked for Roy this year. There's the rub though. It almost worked this year for ROY. He caught lightning in a bottle AND , lest we forget , unx paid ( and continues to pay ) millions to avoid the penalties deserving of the worst cheaters in NCAA history. They were incredibly corrupt AND incredibly fortunate. Hey...sheet happens. Anyway , the larger point is Roy can't count on the stars aligning like that every 4 or 5 years and elite players ain't even THINKING about staying in school that long anyway. He could change but I hope he doesn't. Every year one of his Mickey D'ers stays in school longer than their counterparts , the more the perception of him being a talent-killer is confirmed...and recruits notice.

Remember another vastly underdeveloped Roy product of recent vintage- James Michael McAdoo....Kid peaked his Freshman year, almost as if Roy programmed him DOWN, just to keep him around following a terrific freshman campaign!

A lottery pick following his freshman season and he returns to , eventually , go undrafted. THAT is 100% on Roy. That kid shoulda been PUSHED out the door. "Go get your money , young man! Now's the time!" But no. Roy brings 'im back. How much cash did Roy cost JMM? It's just these kinds of situations that are hurting unx's recruiting. All the scandals in the world wouldn't hurt this much. Thanks , Roy. No seriously. As a Duke fan...thanks. lol.
