Olympic softball

Why are none of the OU players on the team this year? OU just dominated team Mexico before the Olympics started (12-3, 11-0, 2-1). Our official Olympic team has great pitchers but we have no batters. We are extremely weak in the batter box and it showed throughout the whole Olympics. 2-0, 1-0, 2-0, 2-1, and finally 0-2. Most of these players are 7-10 years out of college and playing in small leagues over seas. I do not understand why we are not getting the best players to play for a sport struggling to find its place in the Olympics.

Geographic myopia. Team USA needs hitters and the best are in the southwest. But Team USA doesn't look much beyond UCLA for its players.
