eBikes were a nice concept until they turned into modern-day mopeds/dirt bikes.

I do see older people pedaling them from time to time, because they actually bought them for exercise. But good luck ever spotting a kid/teenager/20-something using anything other than the throttle. Great workout for the thumb, I suppose.

...yeah i gotta kind of a beef with that crap... If our neighborhood has 30 kids with 3 blocks...bet ya at least 20 of em have an electric somethin...and the ones that don"t, drive their folks golf cart. Gawd forbid they ride a gawd damn bike under their own power. They're missing out.

....far as older folks I get it...what i fear though, and its happening, the trails are starting to be full of em. Last year on my last CO bike trip, i was at about 12K for 20-30 miles on the Divide ..i ain't ever been passed by so many girls...on ebikes. Here i am chugging my 56 year old *** on a normal bike at elevation, and all these hotties kept flying by me with ebikes... and now omaha is getting to be full of em too.

What cracks me up (so far only figuratively) is the number of people who buy their little darling what is essentially an electric dirt bike, then dress him up in full-blown Motocross gear and turn him loose on the walking/biking trails.

Guess what, folks? The rest of us are not all geared up for the collisions he's going to cause. But thank goodness that thing he's riding 35 mph is electric - so it can't possibly cause any harm.

Isn’t actually ordinance or state law that bicycles should use streets and follow traffic rules as if motorized? I know it used to be at least a city ordinance somewhere I’ve lived🤷. The pisser is when I see an E bike cruising on a sidewalk at 30 mph alongside me then cross a side street while I have to wait at a red light. Happened on Center street my last trip to Omaha.
Might have been in a city ordinance where one of your B-I-L's lived? LOL

And don't blame my wife's E-Bike because it's been in the shipping box we got it in 2 years ago for
$ 1,200.00. lol

Trails in CO full of ebikes drives me nuts. I have a some go-to rides in the mountains that have long been favorites, in part cuz you have to earn the downhill with over 1,200 feet vertical climbing first. That used to weed out much of the traffic and they never were crowded even on weekends. Those days are gone - ebikes make those trails easy peasy for the masses. I would feel better if it was just hotties passing me, but even the Fat Amy's are kicking my butt up hill now.

Yeah you can go eff yourself with that line of thinking. Omaha is about as backwards as you can get with people who have that mindset. I've been hit twice, and the first time I WAS on a sidewalk. How bout, and hear me out, ya just pay attention and try not to hit me...and maybe leave the house, oh I don't know, 30 seconds earlier so you can have that whole 30 seconds in the bank in case you do run across somebody on a bike.
No idea what the drunken teacher idiot said, but I’m guessing it was more ignorant BS

growing up our motorcycle trail was from blondo to fort along the creek, for some reason the city thought it was good place for a bike trail.
