That seems about right. 50s I'd maybe rate a bit higher as Chuck Berry, The Killer, Little Richard, Buddy Holly, Elvis, et al were all damn good. Just not enough of them, imo.1950's- 5
1960's- 9
1970's- 10
1980's- 8 (MTV introduction lowers music quality in favor of looks)
1990''s- 7
2000's- 6 (Napster kills profitability of the music industry + widespread use of auto tune)
+2010- 4
I downgraded the 50's due to the quality of the recordings. The recording equipment wasn't up to snuff. Much of the music of that decade was recorded in mono. I liked the artists but the recordings just weren't great due to technology. That seems about right. 50s I'd maybe rate a bit higher as Chuck Berry, The Killer, Little Richard, Buddy Holly, Elvis, et al were all damn good. 2010+ just isn't enough emphasis on the musicality. Either way overboard distortion and feedback or basically no guitars at all. The music scene is so splintered and too reliant on marketability. Whoever invented the drum machine should be shot. I would opine less inspiration from blues which is where most classic and enduring rock music received its inspiration. You go 3+ generations away from the blues and you don't have much in common with the basic structure, rhythm and feeling of the building blocks of good rock music. Just my opinion
Rock music is a pretty generic term. We going to include stuff like death metal in there too?Myself I would rate it.
