On a scale of 1-10 what's my alcoholic level?

Been off work since Thursday. Drank 10-12 beers Thursday night. Friday went and cleared camp site for deer hunting and stayed til Sunday. Drank 30+ that weekend. Hung out with dad Monday and didn't drink. Started building floor to ceiling bookshelves around my fireplace Tuesday and finished today but drinking 12-15 each day. Gonna run electric/cable/internet so I can put tv above mantle tomorrow and already debating what kind of beer to get! Saturday I get to go to a pig roast and dude supplies unlimited home brew...

Sounds like an 8 or 9.

My justification is can't drink before noon. Basically, the hours have to be noon-2 a.m. If you're ever having liquor for breakfast, you're an alcoholic.

So basically, just don't drink in that short window and you can justify it.

Which brands of beer were consumed during your 30+ beer weekend?

If you are not drinking vodka (because its the hardest to smell) on the way to and while at work, then you are not not at the top end of the alchy scale.

I take a spiked iced coffee to work every damn day. I swear half of my paychecks go to Belvedere and Grey Goose.

In my younger days I could drink a case in about 2-3 hours and barely have a buzz. I might have weighed 125 lbs at the time and was in pretty damn good shape.

Barely a buzz with a BAC of around .45 lol

I kid you not. Me and a buddy were sitting in our barracks room with a case for each of us. We were watching the '99 or '00 UKvsUF football game. We were both out of beer at halftime and went to get more across the base. We walked to and from and barely felt a thing. That's back when drinking wasn't just binging a day or two a week. We drank in excess on a daily freakin basis.

makes me feel a lot better about myself. Was starting to question me 20+ beers on Friday and Saturday combined on the weekend, every weekend, and the occasional Wednesday night 6 pack while playing NBA2k17.

Good to know I'm just normal.
Do you play on PC?

How the hell can you drink 15 beers in one night? Always amazed at people that can do that, I get full after 2 or 3 and have to switch to liquor. Do you just have an unbelievably huge gut?

It's easy. You go out and drink 7-10% abv beers and you're right about 15 budweisers.

That's what I do. I drink high ABV so I don't drink as many.

But these days, I drink 1 beer and I feel as bad as drinking 12 when I wake up the next day. Thank Zeus for the weed.

Good lord, thanks for starting a boring thread, OP. I had high expectations. These are some pretty lame accounts about alcohol use. Now, when one of you gets to the point where you start huffing AquaNet, please feel free to start a new thread about your experiences. In the meantime, mods, please close this thread. TIA.

I'll never understand drinking cheapass 4-5% beer. It just makes no sense to me. If you're a 'beer guy' and try the other ales and stuff, I get that. My father-in-law would drink Milwaukee's Finest or whatever it was, like it was water. Never seemed 'drunk' to me either.

Also had a weekend where I drank a very slow 5 count of Bacardi 151 followed by a slow 5 count of Tanqueray. I wasn't conscious for the next two days and woke up still a bit buzzed. Roommate said I took a shower three times with my clothes on, don't remember a damn thing, and should have been dead.

Not bragging, just recalling some pretty bad drinking memories. Glad I'm not that young anymore.

From learned experience about myself and many others:

If at some point in your life you question whether or not you have a drinking problem, you probably do. Whether or not you feel it's enough of a problem or worth doing something about is the more relevant question.

Very good post! I would add that quitting drinking is just part of the fix. When I quit my compulsiveness was redirected to other things (crazy tight with finances) which let do my divorce. During our separation I attend meetings and the suggestion of our marriage counselor. It opened my eyes a lot!

It doesn't take heavy drinking to be an alcoholic either. You can have one drink a day, but if you can't manage to go a day without...you have a problem.

Same here but I don't like liquor at all. I'd say two beers is normal for me. If it's a social occasion, I'll drink three to five (that point I'm drunk).

But I don't know how these guys finish off these entire cases.

I can't stomach liquor at all due to some liquor abuse on my part.

2-3 beers these days and I'm either full or feel like crap.

I think what some aren't thinking about is you can build a tolerance to alcohol if you drink enough on a consistent basis. Several of us drank plenty consistently.

you know a case is a 24 pack right? No way in hell, at 125 pounds like you say, could you drink that in 2-3 hours and "barely feel a buzz". You'd be closer to dead more than likely.

A 12 pack? Sure. But I don't believe you'd "barely feel a buzz". 24? [laughing]

The calculator I ran it through (using the more conservative three hours he mentioned) came up with .45. Over .4 is described as "onset of coma, possible death".

I had been drinking every day for almost 2 years, and not casual drinking. We worked and played harder. The things we could/would do back then people can't comprehend and that's fine. I have no problem being called a liar, I have those memories with my friends from back then and we laugh about them til this day. We did lots of stupid **** and plenty of funny **** while drinking.

It was a case (24) of Heineken. My case sat on my left side next to me while watching the game. Pretty sure we got subway while we were getting our beer too. I can remember damn near everything about that day. Even the look we gave each other when we realized we were out of beer and needed more. lol After the game we cleaned up and headed across the street to play pool at the bar in the hotel basement. It's what we did damn near every night for 3 years.

Closer to dead would be the other story I posted. After that weekend I slowed my drinking down considerably.

so it was you and other people drinking the case.... not just you, correct?

No. My case was on my left side and my buddies case was on his left side. It may have been a case for the entire game (4-4.5 hrs)...all I know is we both finished a lot sooner than we anticipated and felt fine. We were both heavy drinkers, and ate quite a bit of food before we began drinking.
