Once they enter the SEC, will TX be more competitive in football or basketball?

I'd say basketball as far as overall SEC standings on a 10 year average. With UK down SEC basketball isn't that strong and football is always a juggernaut.
So, your thought is basketball, right? It will be easier to contend/compete in b-ball, but TX may finally figure out how to play big boy football. They've certainly got a ton of advantages that most schools don't. No reason why they shouldn't be able to win 8+ games in football. They sure have underachieved a lot more years than not, lately.
They are one of about 12 to 15 teams that has a shot for sure. Oats has to prove he can get it done in March though. If he thinks sweet 16 is hard wait until he gets into games beyond that.
No opinion on the 1st question, but they have a very strong baseball program, I imagine they will be at or near the top a lot of years
Texas sports is very competitive throughout their athletics program. They have all the resourses, money and facilities, than most any program in the country, actually they are the richest progrsm in the country. IMO basketball will be the quickest one to be competitive quicker, football will take longer to adjust to the physicality of the SEC. There is so much great talent around the country there's a premium on the cosches that can identify talent that's quality rather than ratings by rating services.
They're an all-around great athletics Dept, that has underachieved in football for most of my life (I'm 45). I would guess that they'll eventually pull it together in football when they get the right coach, but who knows when that will be. I think their basketball program will do better on a ten year average than will their football program.
