Simply watching his last few matches where he could hardly stand on several occasions. Felt horrible for the young man. No inside information. Hopefully for him and all of us his okay. However we must put his health first and foremost. Guess will see

I'm concerned also. I reached out to someone that hears some scuttlebutt about local kids. He has not heard anything. Kasak truly doesn't have much of a connection to our area except when he wrestled for BECA. I think his brother might wrestle for State College??
They live in the state college area and his sister goes to PSU.
Edit - sorry for this post about skipping school - I noticed you all got “back on topic” before I posted it ….. but it’s my fun story anyway …..
I skipped school for….wait for it……the NFL Draft !
I would stay on the toilet and told my Mom I had diarrhea until she left for work. Then plop myself on my Mom and Dads bed - they had a split king before they called it that lol (just two twin beds pushed together) - and watch the whole GD thing.
My friends would have to use the pay phones at school and call me to see who their team drafted.
Believe it was my Freshman Year and that became my tradition for the remainder of my HS career.
PS - I thought Mel K was a doofus even back then - but hey he’s a rich doofus right so who am I to criticize

Bumping this thread...what are people's best guesses about Ono starting this year? Let's hear it...insiders? Outsiders? Wild speculation? Anything?
I think he starts and it’s 50/50 between 133/141. Blaze obviously man’s whatever weight Ono doesn’t go. Reason being is that I find it hard to believe he spends 2+ years in Happy Valley supposedly learning folkstyle to never wrestle folkstyle. I am biased, of course, because I want to see him wrestle and the storyline is uber compelling, but I think he goes. An outsider’s $.02.
In case you missed this from late May. I don’t know who Brantt is, and I rarely visit that forum (never now that it is paywalled), but he seems to be a true insider from his track record:
My dad always had me wrestle up after a middle school tournament at Xmas I was over weight the night before. I lost my finals match cause I had NOTHING left at all. He said never again, I’d rather you get your *** kicked then lose cause you can’t give 100%. So I did get a mat burned face several times, but, did me good in life and the cage.
Part of me still thinks that I will believe it when I see it, Ono starting and going a whole season in the blue and white.
I can't wait, but there is still the faintest 'this is too good to be true' thought dancing around.

Ono is really good on his feet so he will have 2 periods to score points!
they say Ono is really strong so he should be able to get off bottom not many good riders now days!
Brantt mentioned not only has Ono been taking folk training seriously, he has been working to get as many years at Penn State as possible.
Similar to people wondering why some kids stay at PSU as a non-starter, people wonder why Ono is even doing this folk experiment?
Have you seen his social media? He's having the time of his life with the team and at school.
It's a crazy thought but maybe there is more to life than just wrestling to some of these athletes!

The rumors I hear out of the room is his build and athleticism make him very tough to hold onto even if he has limited experience on bottom. He's short, explosive and has very strong grip to fight hands.
I kind of think of Gabe Arnold at 197, what is there to grab onto to keep him down? He's a bowling ball!
Having met Ono in person at two practices your assessment is spot on @McScoreley on his physique.
He is well built in his upper body and is very strong.
