I kid you not.

Evidently, finding the right answer is a white supremacy construct as is 'showing your work'. A direct quote from the materials:

"The concept of mathematics being purely objective is unequivocally false, and teaching it is even much less so," the document for the "Equitable Math" toolkit reads. "Upholding the idea that there are always right and wrong answers perpetuate objectivity as well as fear of open conflict." Also, the workbook instructs teachers to "identify and challenge the ways that math is used to uphold capitalist, imperialist, and racist views."

I've seen a load of horsesh*t in my time but, dang if this might be stupidest thing I've come across. Last time I looked 2+2=4 is, in fact, purely objective and has nothing to do with race. I guess if a minority kid comes up with 2+2=5 it's because of racism.

Where does this nonsense stop? Do the idiots promoting this nonsense actually believe what they're saying or is it just a method of gaining power and/or notoriety?

It's about keeping people dumb to control them. Whoever is pushing this is not trying to create the next generation of engineers to lead us into space exploration. You won't be able to get a job at NASA using this kind of math.

So much for the inspiration of Hidden Figures and naming schools after Katherine Johnson if this is what kids have to look forward to in public schooling.

I remember when other countries would send their educators over to the USA to see how it was done. This was back when the USA had the best school K-12 systems in the world. Not so much now is it? The USA needs to go visit other countries to see what THEY'RE doing. Other countries have caught up, and left the USA in the rear view mirror.

If she had gotten our astronauts CLOSE to orbit, that should have been good enough. And she should not have had to submit her work for review.

Considering that Oregon is on the left coast, this should not come as a surprise to anyone. After all this is the same state that a few years back passed a law that said. That it's legal that a 14 year old child could have a sex change operation without their parents being notified. And the state would pay for the operation. The insanity of the left will never cease to amaze me. Any time you put liberals in charge, just give them time & they will destroy what ever they come in contact with.

Why? Because we think accusing mathematics of being racist is dumb as ****. You lefties are eat up with everything being racist, get a GD hobby.
How anyone thinks math is racist is beyond me. It’s like saying the correct answer to a fill in the blank statement is racist.

Before long putting air in your tire will be racist.

It is 64 pages. Not hard to read.

Lots of internalized white superiority. I think some of you are definitely at the bottom of the Ladder of Empowerment for White People

Regardless of the politics in education, we’re too focused on standardized testing and a goal of being a college farm system.

I’m fine with folks being required to teach certain things like algebra, literature, etc., but the focus on standardized testing just encourages memorization rather than learning. I’m not an educator, I’ve never taught anyone other than training adults and college students on jobs, so I’m not going to act like a have anything resembling a solution here though.

And the college farm system approach to secondary education needs to be stopped. Not saying we should stop encouraging people to go to college because we need college educated people for numerous jobs like doctors to name one, but not everyone needs to be going to college or being encouraged to go to college. Some kids just aren’t cut out for it. I saw it all the time working with students in college athletics. Some would be much better off going to a trade school. Hell, some who do excel in college could be better off going to a trade school for that matter.

Those people should be put on the next shuttle to the international space station with the course plotted by one of the people that think math is racist.

Will nordic people still be required to get the answer correct? Let's say an Anglo Saxon gets it correct can we still count it wrong because of privilege? I have so much privilege. Dripping in it.

I tried to read it. Got through about half of it. Looking for the evidence that math is racist. All I see are statements that high standards and rigor are racist. Absolute rubbish.

Like all critical race theory, practically no substantive proof that the system is the problem.

We know the system works because it was exported to non-white cultures everywhere during the 19th and 20th centuries. The Japanese, Chinese, Indians, Koreans all
seem to have no problem with math. The Singaporeans do it differently but again, they are using systems of Western math.

How can math be racist in one place and not another? Does this not make clear that it’s a ******** attempt at leveling?
