I have no problem with the former Cal guys being for him or supporting him, but they should rep UK first and foremost. He supported Mark Pope over Cal for a while if I remember well
He is always Kentucky guy and not Cal guy
My gut feeling is he may return to Lexington for life after his pro career
Who repped Cal first?? I kid I kidI have no problem with the former Cal guys being for him or supporting him, but they should rep UK first and foremost.
While I would hope former players would support the program, times are very different. At this point, it’s just business. Next year many will be doing business elsewhere. As with any employee these days, loyalty is a museum piece.I have no problem with the former Cal guys being for him or supporting him, but they should rep UK first and foremost.
Idk man they might make their initial decision based off of business or whatever it’s called but after playing for UK and experiencing everything that comes with playing here surely they love it and continue to represent UK. Seems like the entire team we have loves Kentucky. While I would hope former players would support the program, times are very different. At this point, it’s just business. This said, Oscar was maybe the last pillar of UK tradition. A rebounding monster. A class player that represented UK in stellar fashion.
I truly hope you are right. However, that is not how it will play out. The business model mimics semi-professional athletics but without the contractual controls one expects for compensation values in this range. The good news is that the current structure will collapse most likely. What replaces it will hopefully bring back some dedication to the actual program. The combination of unbridled NIL and the portal will not be sustainable.Idk man they might make their initial decision based off of business or whatever it’s called but after playing for UK and experiencing everything that comes with playing here surely they love it and continue to represent UK. I think every player that got drafted this year has already shown support to UK. I’ve seen all of them repping UK gear over the summer.I truly hope you are right. I think Oscar himself showed us this very clearly. He stood to make a substantial amount and was obviously very loyal to the brand. However, in the end he had to follow the cash. I don't blame him but for one so supportive of Kentucky, still, he has to take care of himself first, as we all do.
Interesting perspective when the numbers of players in the portals is growing every year. I don’t see loyalty. I see mercenary.I think every player that got drafted this year has already shown support to UK. I’ve seen all of them repping UK gear over the summer.
They gotta always do what’s right financially but I look at getting drafted and transferring as two completely different things.
And I think the structure they got is here to stay or get worse. I kind of like it. It does show a sense of loyalty because we know what player could make at other places opposed to if they stay.
