We are 3.5 point underdogs today at home. Assuming Beran is out, my guess is Gaines starts based on how we started the second half at IU. It would be great to avoid early foul trouble.

Hope Beran isn't out too long. No easy games on the schedule.

In my opinion, we match up well with OSU. They do not have a dominant big man and start 2 forwards and 3 guards. As a consequence, we don't have to play Nance and Young at the same time, and we can throw lots of good guards at them.

I think people want to see more for sure, but I wouldn’t say that. OSU is a nationally ranked team that just beat a fantastic Rutgers squad, so this isn’t too much disrespect for NU, IMO. I think the Big Ten is on notice that NU certainly isn’t the cellar dweller we were all expecting.

Does it matter that no one thinks NU is for real?

The only ones that matter are the opposing coaches/staff/players. If they don’t, good for us. But they probably do.

NU has size and length unlike anything in recent times. That would take a minute of film to see. What has changed is the guard play being added to the length. What has not yet changed is that the team is young and is not tourney tested. That will come but the improvement is obvious. There will be the highs and lows that NU brings but Collins will be back in the NCAA field soon. Too bad Minn took some luster of our upcoming Iowa win.

What we need at the 5, and everywhere else up front, is somebody who understands the fundamentals of rebounding besides Young. We got killed on the boards today, mostly because our bigs stood and watched rather than blocking out. Boo saved the game today by somehow coming up with the ball underneath at the end. Great win - we never quit
