I cant understand why that game isn't being played in a prime time television slot.
Wow didnt realize it was at noon...when u said primetime i figured u meant 7-8pm and that the game was 330 kick...

There is no B1G evening game at all...weird

FOX has made a concerted effort to make the 12:00 slot a big time game. A lot of the bigger FOX games have been and our going to be played at noon. OSU-Michigan is also a nooner. BTW, they have had great success with this strategy and the ratings have been great.

I guess our viewership will be down as a result hahaha
Not exactly....from the article I was referencing.

From the article:

“Big Noon Kickoff” is the byproduct of a much larger strategy on Fox’s part, an attempt to prioritize and own the noon ET time slot on Saturdays. It’s a concept they started getting serious about before the 2018 season even ended. Since striking a deal with the Big Ten in 2017 for a share of its primary rights, the evidence for this opportunity became clear. Fox got the equivalent of primetime numbers from two noon games, Michigan-Ohio State and Michigan-Wisconsin, in 2017. Their top five games of 2018 were all in the noon window.

“It’s been an evolution of a noon strategy over the last couple years,” Crocker said. “We used to call it counterpunching. It’s really just thinking about how we’re all fans who want to watch the best games. Our research says people watch college football throughout the whole day. So you want to be able to watch the best game in a particular window. We saw, in the noon window, there was a huge opportunity to put a really strong game there.”

And it’s working so far. Viewership of their noon games is up 15 percent year-over-year, and that’s before this week’s expected Texas-Oklahoma bump that last year’s numbers enjoy. As for “Big Noon Kickoff,” viewership is up 23 percent from last year’s pregame show, which featured Stone, Leinart, Robert Smith and Dave Wannstedt and was typically 30 minutes in length. Going into this year, Fox recognized if they’re going to really do this right, it only makes sense strategically to up their investment in the lead-in to that noon kickoff. The more people who start with you, the more people who stay with you.

I was reading in the Athletic it’s a Fox strategy to have a big game in the noon time slot also attract viewers to their lead in pre game show with UM and the crew.

TV ratings on a saturday night are generally bad. NASCAR moved a number of their saturday night races to sunday day slots for this same reason. Ratings are way better early afternoon

For the college minutiae-minded, Ohio State was just whistled for holding. As rare as Halley’s Comet. That said ... go Buckeyes. I’m guessing the official who called it (the umpire) is from Pennsylvania.

4th and goal on the 1 for OSU game started out like OSU was gonna run them down but then the Fields fumble at the goal line kind of changed the momentum and still OSU only 7-0 but threatening for another TD.

Dobbins with the TD to add to the lead 14-0.

OSU able to get the ball back with a little more than a minute left to try to tack on some more points and just got a horse collar penalty which really gets them in to PSU territory around the 35.

Oh man had a sure TD that was late to the WR and the PSU defender just was able to get it out.

OSU winning is good news for the Big Ten. Thanks to a weak schedule they have a good shot at backing into the playoffs. The SEC conference has more or less locked up the top 3 (LSU, UGA, Bama). OSU or Clemmons need to go undefeated to stay in front of Florida and/or Auburn. I think if OSU and Clemmons both go undefeated OSU should get the nod.

If Minnesota wins out, the Gophers and the Buckeyes will both be in the playoffs. 1 LSU 13-0 2 Clemson 13-0 3 Minny 12-1 4 OSU 12-1
5 Alabama 11-1 6 GEO 11-2

Seeing a good chunk of the PSU-OSU and A&M-GEORGIA. I think 2-loss PSU is better than 1-loss Georgia. And I hate Penn State.

PSU vs OSU is an interesting match-up since PSU tips toward speed and OSU tips toward power. PSU can erupt but OSU will wear you down. OSU scored in every quarter. PSU erupted in one with OSU turnovers. OSU can win NC if they don't get caught sleepwalking (prone to that). PSU is first team that pushed OSU. With Minn and Mich as the last two games OSU should be able to get a rise and hit bowls with a head of steam. When a power team gets rolling things get ugly (see OSU vs Bama 2014)
