Actually you were more correct the first time. It's a club. Can't say it based off results. The hottest golfer in the past months was Glover.
Never said it was based off of results. Said it was a club. But you said “Who cares about his past Ryder Cup record?” And I replied.

Zack came out and said he would leverage his advisors and teammates for input to captains pick selections.

But everything in sports comes down to analytics. I am sure they ran the numbers. Glover is hot. But I’m guessing they don’t think it translates.

You cannot debate JT’s record in Ryder and Presidents cup, specifically when paired with Speith. If I was in Zacks position I would have included JT as well. I like Glover a lot. But thinking his record of 2-6-0 in presidents cup was used against him.

Why are you bringing up past performances?? Are you purposely ignoring that he was at the top of his game in the past vs his game now?
Has a player ever been selected to the Ryder Cup team without being in the top 75 FedEx ranking since the inception of FedEx Cup points?

Because again you asked why JT was included. The defense and reasoning behind selecting JT by those who were in charge of picking the team, Zack, his advisors and other team members is because JT has an amazing record in these type of events. Talking heads have said if Zach included Glover and he failed (which there is a track record in this format) then immediate ridicule for leaving JT off the team would follow. JT is a popular choice that checks most boxes.

In a perfect world Glover is in. But as has been mentioned this is a boys club.

And as I that it should be based on merit. JT this year shouldn't be on the team. He didn't earn it. He wasn't even top 20 Ryder Cup points. Popularity should have nothing to do with it. It's about winning, bringing the best team. If the JT that showed up the last tournament shows up the US Team should be ok. If it the JT through out the year then US is going to lose.
Same argument during the year about Koepka but Koepka earned it.

Agreed. But as long as a captain has picks there will be subjective reasons for additions.

Poulter has been a captains pick on the last 4 Ryder cup teams. Didn’t deserve to be on team based on merit. But the guy has eaten the Americans sides lunch.

Yet he is 3-5-2 in his last 3. Kind of my point.

The JT and Speith Ryder Cup performances from the past probably was the deciding factor in his selection. The Ryder Cup is still a month away. JT may be playing well at that time. Agree with his selection by Zach. I’d bet on JT over Lucas in the RC.

I like JT but he did not deserve to be on the team. I don’t care what his prior Ryder Cup record is. Even JT pretty much said he sucks lately. Hopefully it works out for Zach and the US team but the US has not won on foreign soil in quite some time. Needed to bring the best players right now.

Why did you leave out the 4th? Because he was 4-0?
Because he earned to be on the Ryder Cup that year. He was the 27th ranked golfer in the word. He hasn't been that close since. Year before he was 12th. Pay attention. You are the one that said he didn't deserve the last few. Plus it proves that past performances mean nothing. Again he is the perfect example why JT shouldn't be on this team. Name me a better player better than Glover in July and August on the US side.

Pay attention. He was a captains pick for the last 4 Ryder Cups. He was a captains pick in 2012.one of the last 2 picked. So it wasn’t “merit based”. And I never said he didn’t deserve to be there. Where did you get that from?

Huh?? So your saying Captain's picks are done by spinning a boardwalk wheel? You are the one that said Poulter has been eating US lunch, not me! He hasn't the last 3 RC so you need to pay attention. He absolutely deserved to be on the 2014 team. He was top 9 in Europe that year. Stop your nonsense!
He was not even close to deserve it the last 3 RC , which is why I posted his record to prove you wrong. Use facts from now on.

A captains pick is exactly what it is. A pick. It is up to his discretion to put that person on the team. He decides what variable he uses to make that decision. The only locks to make the team are the ones that play their way onto the team. Poulter has been a captains pick the last 4. And yes he in his career has eaten the Americans teams lunch. 15-8-2 is an incredible record. Take your own advice and use facts.

You weren't talking about career! You were talking about the last 4. The last three he wasn't eating American sides lunch. Dope. This is your quote which you can not defend.
"Poulter has been a captains pick on the last 4 Ryder cup teams. Didn’t deserve to be on team based on merit. But the guy has eaten the Americans sides lunch."
He deserved to be on that 2014 team team, earned it. You are right he wasn't deserving the next 3. Your point he ate up Americans side those year is completely false. Yet you support JT on this team. You are a weird dude who can't stay in your lane.

Dude you are crazy! I was talking about his entirety. If Poulter didn’t have the success in prior Ryder’s do you think he would have been a captains pick? Come on think about it. The premise was JT is on the team because of his prior success. Same as Poulter.

I'm crazy?? Read your own post again. " last 4 Ryder cup" your words!

Again do you think he would have been a captains pick if he did not produce prior? Not difficult. If he didn’t eat the Americans lunch do you think he would have been a captains pick? His overall record is 15-8-2. Even with the cherry picked record you posted above.

Admit you were crazy wrong and I'll have a conversation with you. Admit JT is the same as Poulter's 3rd captain pick. Otherwise Mrs Thomas you can't defend your posts today.
