Interception.

There were rumors on the internets that it was a completion because the receiver had possession when his knee touched. Not good enough. To be a reception, the receiver must survive the ground. The ground can't cause a fumble, but it can cause an incompletion. Or in this case, an interception.

Call on the field was interception. Certainly no conclusive evidence to overturn.

A WR like Sanu would have caught that and left the DB crumpled on the ground . One of my checklist points for a receiver is the ability to make most contested passes. Cooks turned is face away at last minute as if he was afraid of the ball hitting him in the face

It was such a good game too. I hate the outcome is controversial. I did want Buffalo though.

Hopefully todays games are good. The Texans being without Nico Collins is gonna hurt them. Im just glad philthadelphia got eliminated last week and we don't have to hear there obnoxious fans all week. They make Penn St fans look classy.

The second still photo is irrelevant. The receiver is NOT down by contact, because he has not yet completed the catch. He must control the ball all the way to the ground, and that hasn't happened yet.

The first photo is relevant but inconclusive. If the receiver has full control of the ball at that point, then it's a catch. However, if the ball is starting to come out, then it isn't. I saw no camera angle that could possibly reverse the call. IMO, the call on the field would have to stand, either way.

What throw - a looong retreating chuck from the 45 for clean TD. They should try that again considering Rams stuff them with ease on goal.

Granted I am a Bills fan, but can someone tell me what was the difference in the Brandon Cooks play that was deemed an interception and the Davante Adams one tonight that was called a catch and down by contact?

Sure. First we must review the rule for a legal catch - get two feet down, and make a "football move" (or some such terminology). If you are immediately tackled or go out of bounds, obviously you cannot make a football move. In that case, you are deemed to have completed the catch if you "survive the ground" - the ball does not come loose when you hit the ground.

Cooks was immediately brought to the ground without making a football move. Therefore, the catch had to survive the ground. Refs ruled it didn't.

Adams caught the ball AND made a football move. Therefore, it's a catch and down by contact. It did not have to survive the ground.

Adams’ knee was clearly down before possession was in question. There’s plenty of examples that are similar to the bad call from last night, the Adams catch isn’t one
