Athletic article reports about 10M will be owed to Locksley half in 60 days and none subject to offset. So parting of ways or dismissed seems the same as that's what he was owed from prior reports. It's not a smaller figure from what I remember.

Some potential names they mention for Maryland ae Charles Huff (Memphis HC), Jake Dickert (WF HC), Dan Mullen (UNLV HC), Lance Taylor (WMU HC), Mike Jacobs (Toledo HC), OSU DC Matt Patricia.

edit: removed some names as they’ve updated their list

Jeff Monken, Bryant Haines, Mike Shanahan, Jason Eck, Shannon Dawson, Brian Kelly, Manny Diaz were the new names they added

on3 had Chip Kelly on their list but again depends on how he feels about being a HC again and all that goes along with being HC.

Andy/Ari mentioned Pete Nakos told them he was texted to add Brian Kelly to the list, which they said essentially means that Brian Kelly or his agent are pushing for that job.

Feldman has a little bit of a trimmed down list. Also mentions something I say, you can be hot one moment and cold the next so if you wait you might not get another chance at all or for awhile.

Shephard and the IU coordinators were the other names mentioned.

From the article:

The top three names already being discussed in the Terps search are all sitting head coaches: New Mexico’s Jason Eck, Wake Forest’s Jake Dickert and Memphis’ Charles Huff. Each has done exceptional work as a head coach, but would any of them jump at this job? Keep in mind it is not expected to be a big year on the coaching carousel.

Multiple industry sources told us this week that top candidates might be thinking twice about whether to wait for something better a year from now.

Mentioned this was possible after last nights loss to Stanford. He’s had a bunch of solid seasons but couldn’t really get over the hump to a little more.

That would be a shocking name despite his history at NC State but fine with me because it would take a competitor out of the market lol.

Think if Schiano was only owed 10 million, he'd be fire by now, but it's close to twice that amount.

NC State just fired their head coach. National search begins immediately.
Dave Doeren posted a record of 98-73 during his tenure with the program, including 11 bowl appearances in 14 seasons.
Looks like the Wolfpack is expecting better then this

His last 5 years and 14 year record there.

Dave Doeren 98-74 (52-58 ACC) fired

Greg Schiano 33-46 (16-42 B1G) still employed and was unnecessarily extended after a 19-28(9-27:B1G) in Dec 2023. 14-18 (7-15) since. Non conference losses to Wake, Kansas St, UMass, BC

New coach can hire him as DC lol. He’s been good at that. His personality didn’t seem to fit being in the HC role. Chip Kelly-ish in a sense…likes to X and O but not sure he’s suited for the other stuff. Started out with a bang and B12 championship but couldn’t keep it going.

He’s a name I’ve mentioned years ago for us but also with the caveat that he seems quite introverted and does he even want to be a HC. Was actually a little surprised when he took the Baylor job to become a HC.

Half jokingly a little while ago, I mentioned everyone seems to be scared to be the first. After Maryland got the ball rolling others seem willing to pull the trigger.

A crazyish suggestion I’ve heard on CFB pods was Riley leaving USC to go back to the B12 and Texas at a place like TCU (although Dykes is a similar tree) or I guess Baylor now.

10-12 million seems to be the amount most schools are comfortable paying. If our guy had only two years left on his contract, he'd probably be gone by now.
Yes I’ve said next year his number would be that much but at the same time there’s an opportunity cost of a year wasted if you really don’t think this is the person to do anything notable.

Look at Maryland, they potentially missed out on a local like Chesney to keep Locksley for the extra year but did anyone actually think he was going to do anything notable this year?

If it’s a borderline financial issue might as well do today what you’re likely going to have to do tomorrow.

No real love for Mehringer as he was put in a position of failure by Ash. But is he being scapegoated by Lanning? He was co-OC the past 3 years and now their QB1 is out the offense sputters. 🤔
Will Stein , Kentucky's current HC,, was the one that made the Ducks O go Dean's title was for the extra bucks that came with it.
Mehringer wasn't scapegoated , even when Moore was healthy, the 0 wasn't as scary as when Stein was in charge, even though it scored a lot of points
With Moore playing, the offense was plagued by a struggling offensive line and noticeable play-tipping habits. Once Moore went down, the unit bottomed out completely under Drew.

We're seeing who the brains of the Oregon offense was. The offense was sputtering when Moore was playing. Mehringer turned an offense with talent into @SS.

That's when they'll be able to go after the ones they want because the regular season will be over and playoffs start on the 15th of Dec.
Giving Baylor choice candidates from the programs that don't make it.

I hear Brian Kelly was contacted but his Texas drawl didn't cut the mustard
