It’s really borderline criminal that these college HCs get these kind of contract guarantees. This guy has been poor at FSU. Bobby Bowden took over a moribund FSU program in 1976 for $37K (about $219K today). He raised that program to a national power over several decades. He had 1 losing season (his 1st year at 5-6). He got them to the Orange Bowl in year 3. His teams won 10+ games and finished in the top 5 for 14 consecutive years between 1987-2000. Won 2 NCs and came very close in 3 other years. In 2000, his salary was raised to $2 M per year ( about $3.9 M today). It’s obscene what’s happened to reward mediocrity and failure , Schiano is very much included in this.

Jimbo doesn’t sound like a good choice but it would be an economical one the same way I’ve mentioned Kelly would be for us. They’ve already made a boatload of money so you don’t have to pay them as much just a reasonable market rate salary. In Jimbo’s case I don’t even think you need thst because he doesn’t have any offsets in his buyout.

Mora isn't on the hot seat, his players are
He sounds like one mad coach.:
>Asked if there are players who don't deserve to play, he didn't mince words.

"Absolutely and they won't be here. There's no chance they'll be here. Zero chance. There's already a list. The list is getting longer. I'm not going to put up with this. I know how to turn programs around. I've done it four times. You've got to be freaking tough. You've got to be willing to make really hard decisions as a university and as a program."

On the week that lies ahead, Mora issued a warning. "I'm going to be an *******. If they don't like it, there's a door and they can walk their *** right out."<

Rhett isn't going anywhere - Boosters there will back up the brinks truck
Would be very surprised if Dilly came back - he's from AZ and has a good thing there, and just singed a big deal
No to Fleck - guy is a cheeseball and the rowing oar is corny AF

Not a bad article, but disagree w/the not a blue blood premise
Undefeated 3 years ago, then terrible

Aren't flush w/cash like the Texas schools, but not poor either
Doak reno bringing in good $$, not just an added cost

Not difficult to win in the ACC, and now they've got the toys (renonvated stadium, FOF, etc.) to sell to recruits
Boosters need to step up re. the new coach and NIL

My thoughts on the FSU, NC State & Baylor HC hires

Jimbo Fisher might be FSU's choice , if he takes a incentive filled contract that has a very friendly salary to the school .
Jimbo wants to be a HC again and probably would accept a bargain basement salary as long as wins and playoff appearance have a big award to make up for the low pay.

I don't see the Seminole boosters willing to back what it would take to get Diaz there.
His success at Duke won't erase his failure to make the U a top program again

Norvell's buyout will scare FSU to offer what it would take to get Lashlee away from SMU

Dickert won't come cheap and what they just paid out to get rid of the last HC mightcause an offer that can be refused

Drinkwitz will get extended to keep the Tigers safe and ASU's HC light isn't shining as bright as it was before this season began

LSU's DC is ready for a top spot and so is Schumann the Georgia DC
but I would guess a Fisher discount will make the job become the return of Jimbo
relying on him repeating his glory days working under a school friendly contra to start off with

As for NCSt , the run of the Rivers is about to start in my opinion

Baylor will go after UTSA's Jeff Taylor

Heard on a couple pods that maybe Norvell could be OC for Lanning at Oregon. They worked together at Memphis.

If Norvell is willing to be an OC again who knows, with the talent you can get at Oregon it’s a decent option to make your star rise from the ashes.

We need to get this one right
It's essential for the future of the program

Jimbo makes entirely too much sense for a variety of reasons, but he really pissed a lot of people off when he left
Not that he left, but how it went down, etc.

With that being said, 4mil/year is the rumor, he'll be more of a CEO, and delegate the offense while still working w/QB's
Incentives will make it more lucrative, and he'd need to get the job before signing day in a month in order to get to work on recruiting

I'm hoping it happens
There was a lot of stuff going on that was messing with his head when he left, but it doesn't excuse how it all went down

Do the apology tour, win some games, get us back on top
All would be forgiven if he were to somehow get another natty in the trophy case
If not, just righten the ship, get us back in the upper echelon, and pass the baton to the next guy

They have a thing for their former qbs lwho haven’t been college HCs anywhere.

Correct me if I am wrong, but great football players rarely make great head coaches. There are others, but the only one I can think of is Jim Harbaugh, and he hadnronchseat to win the national championship.

Harbaugh was a coach at the lower levels before he got to Stanford and did well there too.

Wilson and Rivers have no experience coaching in college. They just might excite some donors but what good is that if they don’t know what they’re doing. Big risk imo and they’ll need some sort of guidance from somewhere.

At Stanford, Andrew Luck is GM. Watched an interview with him during one of their games, and he seemed to know his place was best at GM and not as HC.
