Wouldn’t watch an award show of any kind if you paid me. And it has nothing to do with likely political statements during acceptance speeches. I just find it to be extremely boring TV. I’ll read about winners the morning after.
Parasite winning over 1917 was awful. Worst picture to win Best Picture since The English Patient beat Fargo.Respectfully disagree on parasite. Really liked that one.
This. Normally the mods move EVERYTHING. I had something about KSR and it got moved, at least that had to do with sports. WTF is this?Hey, maybe you could start a ballroom dancing thread on the football board?
How many of us feel when we come to this forum. Escape to talk about basketball and all of a sudden the usual rants queue up and ruin it.I won’t watch for a second. Really tired of politics being shoved in my face 24-7.
I'm shocked that anyone watches: they've proven themselves many times over to be nothing but pedos and scumbags. They make Charles Manson look like a decent human being.Too political anymore.

I'm in the middle of The Trial of the Chicago 7. It's pretty good. I think the Eddie Redmayne kid has a really good future ahead of him. His work in the Theory of Everything was great. Almost as good as Daniel Day Lewis in My Left Foot.If only some of you would open up and share your political thoughts more often, especially on a thread about current movies, the world would be such a better place.
FWIW, my wife watched Nomadland with her friends, said it was a really good movie, but depressing as hell. I do like most anything Frances McDormand does though. I will see it eventually, when I am not feeling particularly suicidal. Probably will check out the Chicago 7 as well, vaguely remember this trial as a kid being a really big deal.
It was his fifth, and last time, hosting. That had been pre-determined. Got bleeped twice, made Tom Hanks visibly uncomfortable, and probably wanted to say more than he did. He literally had to stop for a second to laugh at a joke he wrote before he said it . . . that always cracks me up and I love it. They censored it, he said it, sipped a beer, and a said, "It's the last time, who cares." It was great. I'd love to have a few drinks with Gervais, even if he's ripping me the whole time.Ricky Gervais’s monologue a year or two ago was absolutely incredible and spot on.
You sound like my kind of guy, Hoss. Enjoy, friend!Same for me. I love the movies, sports and music, but never watch an awards show of any kind. I find them boring and would rather spend the time watching...well...a movie, sports or listening to music. Really miss going to the movies though. Haven't been since watching 1917 in February of 2020. We have a theater a couple of miles from us that has serves beer and wine, as well as bar food types of appetizers, burgers, sammidges and full entrees as well as great popcorn. It's not a cheap evening, but for movies (like 1917) that demand to be shown on the big screen, it's a really nice experience. We're looking forward to getting back to doing that a few times a year, along with live music.
Agree with you 100%, especially on topics posted on the General Discussion Board about movies.
JMO of course but I think Parasite was deserving. A lot of people were already big fans of Bong Joon-ho and Parasite is arguably his best. 1917 was pretty to look at but fell back on the continuous shot gimmick so much so, that that's what the film became. It reminded me of a live action Medal of Honor game.Parasite winning over 1917 was awful. Worst picture to win Best Picture since The English Patient beat Fargo.
Since when did the Oscar's get back to being about movies?Agree with you 100%, especially on topics posted on the General Discussion Board about movies.
Of course. Nobody expects a woke leftie to see people with principles any differently.I actually don't mind it. In fact, it gives me a chuckle imagining them sitting there, clutching their pearls with a white knuckle grip and tears welled up in their eyes as they respond to something they hate so much.![]()

You're seriously equating people not watching a tv show to people not attending football games that they weren't allowed into?No doubt those are accurate numbers, but Kentucky football attendance trends would look about the same over the same time period. Pretty much the whole world deserves a pass on 2020.
On a brighter note, I think they are expecting 45,000 or so at the Derby on Saturday, including up to 15,000 in infield, if I recall correctly.

Some were blaming the low ratings on Covid. When do we stop blaming everything that sucks on Covid. Besides, a lot more people are at home watching television now than ever before so...Saw this online, not sure how accurate the numbers are.
