Certainly Kareem would held the record if freshmen were eligible to play back then. But it wasn't him or Marques Johnson.
No one has got it so far. Here's a real hint: His freshman year was Jim Harrick's first season at UCLA.

That's a pretty good clue, actually. lol. His name is essentially the same name as the country music star who sings that song. This UCLA guy, though, seems to be a forgotten name for some reason. Dude was a monster in college and had a few good pro seasons too. But it has been 20+ years...
