I don't believe it's any of the post 80's guys even though they had 4 years to do it. I think it goes way back for the reason the shooting percentage was lower creating more rebounds. Maybe the 50's. Bill Russell is a possibility but I doubt it's him. Really I don't know a whole lot about pre 60's college basketball. OFC

Good deductive reasoning, sky. It was a guy from the 50's. It wasn't Russell or anyone else mentioned. I will say that he was a very serviceable pro, though. Not quite at the hall of fame level, but he did make 5 all-star teams.

Edit: He is, in fact, enshrined in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. I just assumed he wasn't with only 5 all-star appearances.

Hints: He Played at the same school as Bill Raftery

The basketball arena at this particular school is named after him.

Tom Gola is correct. Have at it, hart!

He totaled 2,201 rebound over his career - about 19 per game. A 4-year player today who played in 140 games would have to average more than 15.7 boards per game to match his record.

NC State - 83, 6 seed
Villanova - 85, 8 seed
Kansas - 88, 6 seed

Not positive on Kansas' seed, but they are the other low-seed to win.

But I will defer to sky, as he got two of the three.

The Atlanta Braves have retired 11 #s. A Brave fan should be able to knock this one out of the park. Name the player and his #. OFC

Not a diehard Braves fan, but I think I know 9 of the guys. Only a couple of the numbers though - so I'll withhold for now as someone might have a more complete answer.

You can do it! There is a good reason I ask for numbers. I'm a Yankee fan as most know but I know there are a lot of Braves fans around. I did know most of the names but not the numbers so I had to look it up. Am still a big Dale Murphy fan. There is one player who's number is not retired that I was sure it would have been and there's one that completely caught me off guard. Good luck. OFC

Not really sure on most of the numbers. Here we go:

Warren Spahn - 22
Phil Niekro - 14
Hank Aaron - 42
Eddie Mathews - 6
Dale Murphy - 3
Greg Maddux - 35
Tom Glavine - 47
John Smoltz - 29
Chipper Jones - 10
Andruw Jones - 50
Jeff Blauser - 4

I'm doubtful on A.Jones and Blauser, but they had longevity for the Braves - and on really good teams too. Really not sure on the numbers part.

That's close. Blauser no and Andruw Jones no. Wrong numbers are Niekro, Aaron, Matthews, and Maddox. #'s 6, 42 and 35 are retired just wrong players. A hint . Remember. Retired #'s not necessary Brave players. You got 9 names correct. It's just a matter of getting the other 2 names and getting the numbers correct. You definitely got the majority enough to ask the next question but I want to give this one a while to see if anyone including yourself can complete it. OFC

If it extends beyond players, Bobby Cox, #6 I believe, would have to be included.

Honestly don't know who wore #42. I'm not terribly knowledgeable about the Braves Pre-1990. Joe Torre played for the Braves way back when and I want to say he was pretty good too, actually. Surely it wasn't Torre? Surely.

Edit: So it just dawned on me that Jackie Robinson wore #42. Is the #42 off limits for the Braves out of respect for Robinson? Maybe that's all-across MLB.

That's good enough to proceed with the next question. Of course #42 is in honor of Jackie Robinson who all the MLB teams have retired. That was the sneaky one hart spoke of. Bobby Cox wore #6 and Maddux wore # 35. Th one I though that would surely be matched up is "The Hammer", Hank Aaron #44. Take it away dukedevilz. OFC
