I have talked to a number of people about the 4 team playoff. Assuming the favorites win, we will see Clemson, Mich State, OK, and Bama. Yet, even though they are no. 1, almost everyone I talk to have said the other three are the teams to beat, have yet to have one person tell me they like Clemson to win it all. Most actually think they are the longshot among the final four.

So I did some research. I did not realize Clemson has 10+ wins for five years in a row, nor did I recall that they have beaten LSU, Ohio State and Oklahoma last three years in bowl games. And that they were underdog in all three bowls. Or that LSU and Ohio State were top ten when Clemson took them down.

Arguably, they have the best quarterback of the four. So . . . are we selling the Tigers short in a four way playoff?

A lot are probably selling them short. Wins over ND and Fla St. look good but only beating UL by 3 and USCjr by 5 might stand out to some. If they blow out UNC then they will get a bit more traction. I think Iowa is in the same boat. People are not paying much attention to them.

They are ranked #1 for a reason. I'm not selling them short.

But I certainly understand why people feel that Bama (Saban) and OSU (Meyer) will do well in the playoff.

I know it is a rivalry game, but the Gamecocks gave them a real scare. I would not count out UNC winning this week.
