If he does well, I think he has an outside shot at keeping the job. At some point Desai will be a head coach in the NFL.
He coached in the late-aughts MAC, so Fitz coordinator is a match made in heaven. (The assertion of the McCaskey's spending money is very questionable. They're lazy old money owners, which is an acquired taste these days.)

Ok, so you fire Nagy. Then what? The same incompetent leadership that hired him and the losers before him will be hiring his replacement. Nothing will change.

If Pace isn't part of it as a cleaning of house, it's clear Pace graduated from the Jim O'Neil School of Over-Employment.

Nothing wrong with the McCaksey's as owners. They spend money and largely stay out of the way. The problem is they have made bad hires. This reporter is credible and so I do think Nagy is gone after this game. If they are going to do it in season this Thanksgiving week with a ten day break until their next game is their last reality chance chance to do it so it makes sense. I also think their contemplated move to Arlington is creating the urgency to fire him mid season as they can't afford deterioration in the public's support for the franchise. Firing Nagy will be a popular decision . My guess is they give Defensive Coordinator Sean Desai a chance to prove his managerial abilities to work as Head Coach on an interim basis for the rest of the season. I like the move and think this will be another popular decision in some circles as Desai would become the first person of Indian descent to ever be a head coach in the NFL. If he does well, I think he has an outside shot at keeping the job. At some point Desai will be a head coach in the NFL.
No.

The one constant through nearly 4 decades of crappy Bears football has been the McCaskey boys trying to hire coaches and GMs who cannot succeed.

Like I said, nothing wrong with the McCaskey’s as owners other than hiring the wrong people to run the business.

…another corbi classic. What a ridickulous assertion. The owners’ jobs are essentially to hire the right people to coach and be GM. Or to find a president who can.

That's hilarious. Too bad it was not meant to be.
Too much made of the McCaskey’s in this town. They are not football people and everyone knows that. Despite what most meathead fans say, they have provided ample capital and been hands off. Those are critical qualities of good ownership.

They have repeatedly made bad hiring decisions, starting with not having a VP of football. They let the team accountant negotiate the deal for soldier Field, which was a bad deal. The franchise underachieves on the field and in terms of revenue. They are very lucky that the Arlington site became available, but I don’t think they have the brains to develop it well. They should sell.

They may very well sell but not because of the reasons you mention, which Is mostly the same regurgitated nonsense that one hears on sports radio. What is a VP of football? You mean a GM like they have now. The soldier Field deal was the best deal they could get from Daly and it has worked out well enough to date. The Bears are one of the most profitable and valuable franchises in professional sports. Things will only improve from here on out.

So the McCaskey’s are the issue with the Bears and Reinsdorf is a problem with the White Sox and Bulls?

4 words-Ted Phillips, Ryan Pace.

I said the McCaksey's are not the issue with Bears. Unlike the McCaskey's, Reinsdorf does not give his GM the financial resources necessary to compete for talent in the open market, which they need to do if they want to win a World Series. The Bears have never been resource constrained. That's a fact.

Someone remind me of where the Sox payroll ranked last year…. Or maybe where it projects to be ranked next season… here’s hoping the Cubs sign Rodon to a ten year contract!

I’ll take the over on that. Bears will be better than people expect. The young talent on the team is underestimated. They do need a new head coach though. Nagy is terrible.
I should have taken that wager.

And Happy 3-Year Anniversary of the Cody Parkey Double Doink.

The Spanish language call of this is the best thing I have heard since that weird Quizno's ad with those creepy rodents.
(I cannot hot link because the NFL will block it, but you can quick the link to view/hear).

Maybe the McCaskeys will send Turk to get Nagy’s playbook and visor today….
@Turk , any word from Ned on if Fitz might be targeted for the Bears job now that it’s officially open? Or are the Bears more interested in Harbaugh or Ryan Day if they pick from the college ranks?

Also curious if anyone on the message board is applying for Pace’s job.
