No matter what team you are a fan of, the idea of VA Tech hiring the guy they just fired as HC for a position next season is hilarious.
he already had one of his staffers get in trouble for itIs he allowed to contact the PSU players? Isn't that illegal?
No doubt. I don't know if it's unprecedented, but it sure is unusual. No matter what team you are a fan of, the idea of VA Tech hiring the guy they just fired as HC for a position next season is hilarious.

Gotta admire the obsessing over Franklin almost 2 months after he’s been fired by the Franklin Derangement Syndrome crowd. I thought you all wanted to move on and forward. As I said yesterday, despite what I think of Kraft, Campbell is our new coach and I will be supporting him and hoping he wins every game he coaches at PSU. As for me, I could care less who Franklin hires and how he does at VaTech.
I always liked Pry. When he was here thought he was a good DC. Not as good as Diaz but liked him better than Shoop and Allen and albeit a small body off work Knowles.VT will save money by having Pry's DC salary offset his HC buyout. Otherwise they would have to pay both the buyout and the new DC. Some Hokie fans are suspicious about this arrangement.
2025 is the most bananas year ever
Franklin often mentioned going through his large list of candidates for open staff positions.
I think that list is much shorter and less distinguished that he inferred.
Time will tell, both at VTech and at Penn State.
Snake oil salesman. Also, Franklin and Pry are both gone and its time to move on. Why do we care what happens at VT or what Franklin does?Franklin often mentioned going through his large list of candidates for open staff positions.

This feels so awkward…can you imagine if JF were hired back to Penn State as a coordinator… or even to sell hot dogs… we would boo him mercilessly! That will go over like a lead balloon with the fanbase.
All his other options watched the 4th quarter of PSU vs USC in the 2017 Rose Bowl and the '17 and '18 PSU vs OSU games. Anyone who puts money on the dynamic duo BGJ and Pry to win a big game deserves to lose all their money. It's absurd he lacks that much respect for himself that he'd take that job--guessing his options were limited.
Yes, but Never-Frankliners are those kinds of bad people ... you can't make decisions based on what those craptastic folks think and do.This feels so awkward…can you imagine if JF were hired back to Penn State as a coordinator… or even to sell hot dogs… we would boo him mercilessly!
Virginia and Mississippi. Where next, West Virginia? It just happened somewhere else as well. I think Miss St? HC was fired, Interim Coach took over. They just named interim the HC (?) and brought back the fired HC as DC.
But not often that the fired head coach goes back to be a coordinator at the school that fired him the next season. I honestly don’t recall this ever happening. It certainly is intriguing. You FDS suffers are truly bizzare - why precisely do you care how VoTech (and Pry) choose to mitigate the contract guarantee owed him??? Pry was owed as much as $6 million via the remainder of his contract guarantee - apparently, he's signed a 3-year contract @$2mm/yr which exactly equal to what he is owed via the guarantee. I'm sure Franklin had to agree to it (or maybe it was even Franklin's idea in the first place), but given that he has worked for Franklin before as a very successful DC, it is probably a pretty wise use of limited financial resources by VoTech/Franklin. There's a long history of fired HCs going back to Coordinator roles for their next job - Lane Kiffin, Manny Diaz, Tom Allen.... etc, etc, etc....

I dont see an obsession
I see a discussion about Pry lacking self respect by returning to the program that just fired him. It's not even truly about BGJ
That said, BGJ is trying to get the attention of our base with most things he does as he's the one obsessed. Once that stops, you'll rarely hear his name aside from those (Marshall) who will act like he won a SB when he beats some FCS team and those that will take joy in any loss. Like 5% of the board.

FIFYIn the past, we weren't talking about the sums of $$$ being thrown around annually by P4 programs. Rather than spend another several million on the margin for a 3-year DC Contract, they're getting a DC who has worked in this role for Franklin in the past, for free.
