I think it's a decent hire if he's just coaching and not the guy making roster decisions.

Just odd.

First let me say that I'm glad he's not with the Titans.

Second, you have a stellar HC in Harbaugh.....who was a control freak. So you fire him because he was a control freak. But now you dump Harbaugh to pick up another control freak who has proven to show that his results plummet when he makes the GM decisions on personnel.

Depends. Is Kap going to be there? Kap is the protype for his offense. Also is Lamichael James still on the roster? Hyde needs to find a new home.

If he sticks to just being coach and play caller...he should be fine...

He needs to let the front office and personal people do that aspect...he needs to let the defensive staff worry about that side of the ball...

if he tries to be a micro manager and attack things with the "i'm the smartest man in the room...my way or highway mentality..." it's just not going to work...it can work in college...not pros...

If Kap is healthy he is the perfect QB to run Kelly's offense...

I'm glad he didn't end up in the SEC...

The NFL bloom is off the rose with CK and I think he will be on a very short leash. IMO, he would have been better served returning to college coaching and reestablishing his mojo there....then maybe a return to the NFL.

Then he's gonna fail. I agree with you on all points. But he won't give up the power. According to all reports the owner of the Eagles sat down with him and said that they still wanted him to coach but he had to give up his GM powers. Kelly said no and was fired.

There's no way that he didn't go out to San Fran without getting he power he craves.

And I think his offense can work in the NFL. And I think Kap can thrive in it. However, I think Chip is going to run the roster so poorly that he will be out of a job in 2-3 yrs.

The 49ers also are paying him for 4 years and $24 Million....basically $6 Million a year to wreck their franchise even more IMO...

He'll have a little more success if he don't have personal control but I don't think he'll be a lot better out there than he was in Philly. His offense has been figured out in the NFL by D coordinators

According to Adam Schefter he is the favorite for the Titan job

The problem is that they had to hire the GM first. They said they weren't going in any particular order but all they've interviewed up till this point is GM candidates. Mularkey is the only guy whom hey know.....so, of course he's the guy in the lead right now.

I really hope he doesn't get it. We just need a breath of fresh air.

I hope he's not the choice as well. But let's be honest, if they start winning.....either with Mularkey or without.....either you'll be back and/or someone will to fill your place.

There's some smoke out there about Josh McDaniels as HC as well. He's had years of working with the new GM Robinson.

Also, Marrone is getting some strong endorsements by prior Titans. That has to carry some weight.

Yeah, I'm fine with McDaniels. And I get the team looked "better" with Mularky somewhat, but they still went 2-7. To be fair, if Mariota does not get hurt (again) we probably beat Indy the last game with him (IMO). That said, if he had been healthy we probably beat the ATL with him when Whiz was still coach. The Titans have a lot of issues beyond the HC anyways. Our player personnel is such a mess right...I do not even know where you begin to start. I guess with the O-Line as we need Mariota healthy and upright, but the D still has some issues as well to say the least. Our RBs are weak, our WRs are mediocre at best, and why our TEs are very good, do you think cheap *** Titans pay Walker whatever it takes to keep him? I have my doubts.

I digress. Between UK football and Titans football I am WINNING at my football teams lol

Marrone is interesting. He's one of the only prospects for HC that we know is being interviewed that increased his win total during his previous time as a HC. He went from 6 wins his first yr as HC of the Bills to 9 wins......with EJ Manuel as QB......and in the same division as the Patriots and an improving Dolphin team. That's not too shabby. But, alas, his departure from the Bills is a bit controversial. He is an OL coach, so, he should know how to protect Mariota.

McDaniels is intriguing. His first (and only) time as HC was a cluster, but yet his mentors are the best in the league. Not to mention that almost everyone still calls him a budding superstar as a coach prospect........and that he's learned from his time in Denver. I don't doubt that he'd put Mariota in a position of success.....his offenses are quite good. What I don't know is how well he can put together and develop a roster.

I figure that the Titans had a 5 win roster last yr. However, Whiz with our roster is only 3 win IMO. Mularkey is a 4 win coach with our roster. So, there is potential there. "IF" we nail free agency, coaching hires, and the draft, we can "push" 8-8 next yr......but there's little room for error. Here are some legitimate options.

-Coach - We need a HC that is going to put Mariota in a position to succeed. As I said above, Marrone and McDaniels are likely good options. But the choice at DC is huge. We can't afford to take 3 yrs to change the roster back from a 3-4 to a 4-3. LeBeau has already been in the building. Starting your search anywhere other than him would be just plain dumb. Do whatever it takes to hire him......and help him form the defensive staff and round out the roster.

-Holes - First, identify the problem areas. It is imperative to fix the OL. There are a few good options for RT in free agency. Some LG's too. Not too many OC's. There are a few cheap but decent players at RB/WR as well. Need to resign or replace the NT position. Sign or draft some LB depth. There is a TON of good CB talent in free agency this yr......not to mention that the draft is very deep with CB's. This is great considering our poor secondary. Griff is a liability at S, but you do have flexibility. He's under contract for another yr and he's just good enough to ride him out for next yr.......or you can take the loss, cut him, and sign someone else.

Below is an example of how to accomplish the above:
1. OL - Sign Barksdale as your RT. He's not a pro-bowler, but he's not a liability. He's just a solid all-around RT. This allows Poutasi to move inside to LG.....effectively killing 2 birds with one fair priced stone. OC can be addressed in FA or draft as well.
2. WR/RB - sign someone like Mohamed Sanu (possession) or Travis Benjamin (deep burner). This allows Wright to move inside to the slot. With the way DGB and McBride came on towards the end of the yr, you could have a really good corps of young WRs. You could sign or draft a RB that would be an immediate ungrade.
3. NT - resign Hill and/or Woods. Neither are dominant, neither are liabilities. Neither will cost a fortune.
4. LB - draft depth
5. CB - Sign one of the stud CB's out there.....and also draft well.
6. S - You could draft for the future, the present, or do nothing for this yr. A dream scenario (Just because, I love this idea), is to let Griff go and sign Berry as his replacement......but unfortunately we probably won't be able to afford him.

These are not unrealistic nor crazy moves. Moves like these are just normal moves that we should be doing on a yearly basis.

This news is just in. -15 out of every 10 Titan fans think the Mularkey hire is underwhelming.
-8 out 10 AFC South fans are laughing at us......the other 2 are Texan fans who are still nervous because they are the only team in the division without a franchise QB.
